La Quinta Country Club

La Quinta Country Club (LQCC) is an 18-hole private golf and country club in the Coachella Valley. LQCC was established in 1959 and is known for friendly members and excellent golf course conditions. We host the PGA Tour American Express Championship annually.

The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy (DOA) and Course Superintendent. They will direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course, practice area, landscape, lakes and related pumping systems. ... duties may include but are not limited to those listed below.

Duties
  • Assists in planning, supervising and carrying out the maintenance of the golf course and landscape maintenance.
  • Schedules and supervises work and operation of golf course employees.
  • Develop great team members through consistent communication, adherence to standards, and encouraging improvement.
  • Carries out fertilizer, pesticide and growth regulator applications to golf course and landscape areas using boom-sprayers (both GPS and non-GPS), backpack sprayers and rotary spreaders.
  • Calibrate sprayers and spreaders to ensure accurate application
  • Maintain Spray Equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Take moisture and green speed readings and manage this data to inform maintenance decisions.
  • Manage irrigation scheduling through use of Rainbird Cirrus Pro software.
  • Bring recommendations to DOA regarding all aspects of the operation.
  • Complete tasks to the highest standards.
  • Modify daily work schedule based on changing personnel and environmental situations.
Requirements and Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance
  • Experience with boom sprayers and drone operation a plus.
  • Functional use of Spanish a plus.
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point a plus.
  • Great attitude and work habits with strong attention to detail.
  • Possess a California Pesticide Applicator license or obtain one in 90-days.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, including 6 days in a row. (during overseeding you could be asked to work up to 13 days in a row, this is a once-a-year occurrence)
Education

Bachelor’s degree or 2-year Certificate in Turf Management or related field required. (students currently enrolled in such a program will be considered)
