Forestar’s vision is to be the nation’s leading residential lot developer. The Company’s strategic relationship with D.R. Horton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, complements Forestar’s vision of creating neighborhoods that enhance the lives of community residents while creating value for shareholders, trade partners and employees.

Forestar Group is currently looking for an Division President-FG in the Executive Department. The Division President is responsible for all P&L of their Division by leading a team of experienced managers and staff to execute the core business of community development and lot deliveries to homebuilders. The Division President is solely responsible for the leadership and direction of the division while providing measurable growth of value to Forestar Group Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform the obligations and signature duties required by the elected office state in the Corporate Authority resolutions
  • Responsible for establishing the business plan and goals for division profitability and growth
  • Oversees the policies regarding financial management, land acquisition and development strategy and direction, quality and general operations
  • Develop organizational plans for all land acquisition and development activities in the division
  • Chair regular staff meetings to provide strategic direction to ensure division is on course to obtain objectives and goals
  • Provide an atmosphere of accountability that focuses on quality and customer satisfaction
  • Focus daily on processes and procedures to maximize resources to meet division goals and objectives
  • Recognize talent, recruit, retain and motivate a team across all functions required to run a successful division
  • Ensure the management staff receive adequate functional data, assistance and service from staff group/departments
  • Establish monthly, quarterly and annual business review meetings identifying areas requiring corrective action, assigns responsibility and specific commitment dates
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Build strategic relationships and a network of business contacts
  • Monitor market, identify trends and react quickly
  • Ensure all employees represent Forestar Group Inc. and the division professionally to the public and local government offices
  • Facilitate division compliance with all company policies and procedures, enforce all established standards
  • Provide counsel, guidance and coaching to the management staff in developing their personal management, capabilities and professional skills
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly manages two or more employees in the Executive Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Business Management or related field from four-year college or university
  • Ten years related experience, land development knowledge
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid Driver’s license
  • Basic accounting or finance knowledge
  • Possess a strong managerial and leadership background, providing a successful record of setting, establishing and meeting goals
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to train, mentor and motivate
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills by using persistence and ability to overcome obstacles
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral from or via Forestar applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a leadership role involving operations, sales and production
  • Experience in land acquisition and lot development
  • Ability to conduct and analyze product and market analysis. Strong understanding of sales, pricing strategies and cash flow
