Primary Purpose of Position:

 

The Distribution Supervisor will oversee shipping operations during their shift for a 24/7 distribution center.  You'll coach and mentor a team of hourly distribution associates to meet business goals, while continually looking for ways to improve processes to meet internal and external customer expectations.  You're a Champion for safety, providing a safe and controlled work environment for distribution personnel while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide support, direction and guidance to processes ensuring internal and external demands are met.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance and disciplinary actions while working in partnership with HR.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities for the area or department.
  • Evaluate and manage equipment, systems, and facility to improve efficiencies and workflow. Develop plans for resource utilization.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Identifies discrepancies as they arise, uses problem solving abilities to investigate deviations and complaints.
  • Manage KPIs, payroll accuracy, and performance appraisals.
  • Prioritizes work assignments and handles multiple tasks to ensure all distribution assigned tasks are completed as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support the overall needs of the team and company.

Qualifications:

 

  • HS diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least 1-3 years distribution supervision experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with the implementation of lean distribution including 5S and facilitating Kaizan events. 
  • Ability to manage projects outside of the realm of normal duties.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a team.

  • Strong Organizational skills with ability to manage day-to-day operation of distribution personnel to ensure accurate and on time order fulfillment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

 

  • Standing and walking approximately 90 (ninety) percent of work time. 
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • Willingness to work all/any shifts.
  • Typical plant/manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
