What We Are Looking For:

Aspida is seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and independent compliance professional for the role of Senior Compliance Analyst. The Senior Compliance Analyst is a senior-level compliance professional responsible for providing compliance oversight and guidance related to annuity products, including contract drafting, point-of-sale requirements, and contract administration.

The successful candidate will have substantial insurance compliance experience and a demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements, identify compliance risks, collaborate with internal business partners, and translate regulatory expectations into practical processes and controls. This position requires an experienced individual contributor who can independently manage complex compliance assignments. The Senior Compliance Analyst will serve as a subject-matter expert resource to internal stakeholders and will provide training, mentoring, and guidance to less-experienced compliance professionals. This role reports to the Senior Compliance Manager and is required to be onsite at our Durham office 3 days a week.

What You Will Do:

Annuity Product Compliance

  • Provide compliance oversight and guidance throughout the annuity product development lifecycle.
  • Draft, prepare, and submit contract forms, riders, endorsements, and related filings to the Interstate Insurance Compact and state insurance departments via SERFF, respond to regulatory objections or requests for additional information and confirm final implementation of approved products.
  • Evaluate point-of-sale requirements, disclosures, forms, sales materials, and related documentation for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Support the annuity suitability and best-interest program, including the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation (#275) best-interest standard, producer training and disclosure obligations, and Regulation Best Interest considerations for registered products.
  • Provide compliance oversight of contract administration processes, including implementation, servicing, amendments, replacements, and other post-sale activities.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks associated with annuity product design, distribution, sales practices, and administration.
  • Review, approve, and where required file advertising and marketing materials.
  • Partner with Legal, Product, Operations, Distribution, Marketing, and other stakeholders to resolve compliance issues and implement regulatory requirements.
  • Support compliance for registered annuity products, including registered index-linked and variable annuities, coordinating with Legal and distribution partners on prospectus and disclosure content and applicable FINRA and SEC requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting annuity products and assess their impact on existing and proposed business practices.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and recommendations regarding annuity compliance requirements.

Compliance Analysis & Risk Management

  • Independently conduct compliance reviews, assessments, monitoring activities, and research related to insurance and annuity products.
  • Interpret applicable insurance laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and company policies.
  • Identify compliance gaps and proactively recommend appropriate corrective actions and controls.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing compliance policies, procedures, standards, and internal controls.
  • Support regulatory change management activities, including evaluating new requirements and coordinating implementation across impacted departments.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation supporting compliance decisions, reviews, and recommendations.
  • Support enterprise compliance programs as they apply to the annuity business, including anti-money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act requirements, privacy and data protection, records retention, and producer licensing and appointment oversight.
  • Escalate significant compliance risks or issues to appropriate management.
  • Manage complex non-financial regulatory filings in a timely manner; accurately review and prepare the state regulatory reports, and other regulatory filings.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc tasks as required.

Requirements What We Require:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
  • Minimum of 7 yearsโ€™ experience in financial services compliance, with at least 3 years in a senior level individual contributor position.
  • Professional insurance industry designation of AIRC (Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance) or FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) preferred, or willingness to obtain within a defined period after hire.
  • Demonstrated experience managing regulatory product filings and operational support for fixed and variable annuity products.
  • Proven experience in drafting annuity contract forms based on the Interstate Insurance Compact product standards & State insurance regulations.
  • Working expertise with the NAIC System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) and state-based filing systems.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment on complex compliance matters, reach defensible conclusions with limited oversight, and elevate significant risks appropriately.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects that are completed within expected timelines.
  • Critical thinking ability to use logic, reasoning and problem solving to identify best practices, alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to challenges.
  • Prior experience with reviewing and analyzing multiple complex data sources and documenting data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal life and annuity regulation, including tax- and non-tax-qualified contract structure, riders, endorsements, and insert pages.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage projects independently.
