Logistics Manager

Position Summary

Brothers Desserts is seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Logistics Manager to lead inbound and outbound transportation operations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This role is responsible for managing carrier relationships, freight procurement, transportation planning, logistics cost optimization, and ensuring products are delivered on time and in full (OTIF).

The Logistics Manager serves as a critical cross-functional partner to Customer Service, Planning, Procurement, Production, Warehouse Operations, and our third-party logistics (3PL) providers. This individual will balance customer requirements, operational needs, and transportation costs while maintaining service excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics Management

  • Manage all inbound and outbound transportation activities across multiple manufacturing, warehouse, customer, and supplier locations.
  • Procure freight services and negotiate rates with carriers and transportation providers.
  • Analyze freight costs, transportation spend, and service performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate transportation solutions for customer-specific requirements, ensuring timely execution of shipments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and transportation partners.
  • Manage transportation capacity and carrier performance to support business growth and customer service objectives.
  • Partner with 3PL providers to ensure efficient movement and storage of products.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with Customer Service to fulfill customer shipping requirements and resolve transportation issues.
  • Partner with Procurement to manage inbound shipments from suppliers throughout North America.
  • Work closely with Planning, Production, and Warehouse teams to align transportation schedules with production and inventory needs.
  • Coordinate logistics activities across internal warehouses and external distribution partners.

Analytics & Financial Management

  • Monitor and manage transportation budgets and freight-related expenses.
  • Conduct freight and lane analysis to optimize routing, mode selection, and carrier utilization.
  • Develop and report key transportation metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Support transportation-related forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Utilize data to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT regulations and transportation requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of transportation insurance requirements and claims management.
  • Support implementation and optimization of transportation systems, ERP platforms, and logistics processes.
  • Lead transportation-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or freight management experience.
  • Experience managing both inbound and outbound transportation operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate freight costs, service performance, and operational data.
  • Experience negotiating and managing carrier relationships.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and transportation analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred

  • Food manufacturing, refrigerated/frozen distribution, pharmaceutical, or other temperature-controlled supply chain experience.
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • ERP implementation or optimization experience.
  • Experience managing transportation activities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
  • Knowledge of 3PL operations and distribution networks.
