Job Summary
The Craft Bartender serves as the nucleus of the customer experience at Minden Mill Distilling by conducting customer and vendor samplings to drive brand awareness and product education. The Craft Bartender ensures the tasting room operates at standards set by the company and delivers the highest level of customer service and satisfaction by educating customers on the Minden Mill Distilling brand, history and facility.


** Wednesday- Sunday shifts available with Fridays and Saturdays required. **


Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of relevant knowledge of Minden Mill Distilling, its products, facilities and history by remaining familiar with current press information, memos, marketing information and other spirits-related publications that are provided.
  • Educate customers regarding the Minden Mill Distilling products, facilities, history and all other relevant information.
  • Responsible for having a high knowledge of craft cocktails in order to incorporate Minden Mill Distilling products into a craft cocktail menu.
  • Assess guests' needs and preferences in order to make suggested recommendations.
  • Enhance customer experience by providing a welcoming, educational, exciting and inviting experience to all Minden Mill Distilling customers.
  • Provide assistance to guests by checking to ensure they are enjoying their experience and taking corrective action to problems.
  • Prepare alcohol and/or non-alcohol craft beverages for tasting room guests. Pour spirits for tasting events for guests at a pre-determined level.
  • Provide answers to customer inquiries and give general information in regard to the Minden Mill Distilling products, facilities, and/or history.
  • Handle routine sales transactions which include, but not limited to operating cash register, accounting of daily sales, handle purchases using POS system, and provide retail-related guidance to customers.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness of facilities.
  • Assist with special event planning, including but not limited to, social events, business events, and private distillery groups
  • Assist with spirit specific work-labeling, capping, bottling, when needed
  • Assist with providing tours to guests, as needed
  • Check customers' identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.

Special Licenses and/or Certificates:

  • TIPS certification or similar class preferred, but not required
  • WEST certification or similar preferred, but not required
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • POS and cash handling experience is required
  • Must have a commitment to excellence and high standards for hospitality and customer service
  • Must have a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Education & Experience

  • 3-5 years of customer service-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior spirit knowledge is strongly encouraged, but not required, though an interest in learning about spirits is a must
  • High end retail experience a plus
