Job Overview:

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, driver performance, fleet utilization, and operational efficiency across assigned accounts. This role serves as the primary liaison between customers, drivers, dispatchers, and internal departments, providing proactive communication on pickups, deliveries, project status, and service performance.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing updates to customers on projects/goals/operational check in on pickups/deliveries
  • Participate in customer weekly/daily calls regarding performance and planning
  • Review potential changes and/or improvements with customer, validate internally with operations management team, and roll out changes/improvements to the many drivers and dispatchers involved
  • Support driver hiring and start up initiatives by interviewing and processing drivers
  • Evaluate driver pools and driver capabilities for busy season/special projects
  • Manage equipment utilization of tractors and trailers assigned to fleet
  • Complete daily payroll responsibilities through UKG
  • Match driver candidates for capabilities that match service needs
  • Work through application questions and concerns
  • Coordinate Recruiting and Safety departments processing of applications
  • Review Problems from internal & external customers and resolve
  • Work with tools and infrastructure items like
    • SkyBitz, Platform Science, LYTX Drivecam, As400 reporting
  • Coach drivers on performance and safety related items
  • Review terminal performance and report out in weekly internal KPI meetings
  • Customer portals and online platforms i.e. Smartsheet
  • Work with administrative teams to complete orders/close out open billing items
  • Manage reporting tools to create processes for additional revenue streams. i.e. detention and bobtail billing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant dispatch/operations management experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Strong understanding of FMCSA & DOT guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of AS-400 and intermediate computer skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
