Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
As the Dispatch Supervisor you will be responsible for the dispatching of trucks to convey freight to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Track deliveries via computer systems and monitors communication lines to assist with complex or immediate questions. Determine and review driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data to evaluate driver performance. Ensure drivers are educated and compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Support the Operations Manager in achieving all site, dispatch, and office needs. Responsible for creating and managing routes, ensuring Drivers complete necessary paperwork, and promote safe driving habits.
The schedule for this role is Monday - Friday 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM or until work is completed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Back up to operations manager for vacations, time off, etc.
  • Schedule all incoming and outgoing mobile transportation, up to and including tankers, end delivery vehicles, and railcars
  • Schedule daily and weekly blending activities as it relates to mins/max's, BPO's and other one-off items
  • Set up, monitor and troubleshoot customer equipment, primarily tank monitors for all applicable customers within Lubricants footprint
  • Work with customers on equipment and supply related issues on a day-to-day basis
  • Provide daily support, scheduling, and direction for drivers around account specific issues
  • Ensure drivers complete all required paperwork: Driver logs, pre and post-trip inspections, and fuel receipts
  • Ensure drivers are completing customer returns within three (3) days of creation
  • Assist with will-call customers
  • Assist with reviewing Samsara driving alerts
  • Track drivers on Elite and close out all routes and open orders daily
  • Complete all routing requests before scheduled cut-off times
  • Backup for Dispatch Supervisor and EComm
  • Assign lines to be pulled by material handlers for will-call and metro routes
  • Answering phone calls in a professional and timely manner
  • Communicates effectively with call center, sales, customers, drivers and other locations
  • Spot check trucks for cleanliness and compliance, assist drivers when a breakdown occurs
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records of vehicles, insurance, and required regulatory filings and reporting.
  • Coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance scheduling that support fleet vehicle availability requirements.
  • May assist with safety training and communication programs.
  • Backup driver, order pulling, operating power equipment as needed
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all team members

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Must be 21 years or older (mandatory company policy)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record in compliance with our driver policy
  • One (1) year of professional driving experience (cube van, box truck or semi), and satisfactory completion of company road test by qualified assessor
  • Two (2) + years experience in transportation industry
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and legal requirements for drivers
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organization skills
  • Ability to be trained and safely use powered industrial trucks (forklifts) and high reach lifts. Pass a forklift certification test
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record in compliance with our driver policy
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds consistently and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to exert a pushing force of up to 40 pounds - working with barrels and industrial/agricultural/industrial/ag
  • Ability to follow instructions and safe operating procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (do not test for THC/marijuana)
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain DOT Medical Card per DOT/FMCSA guidelines and requirements during the hiring process (Please visit the DOT/FMCSA website for a complete list of requirements)
