Job description

The Director, Enterprise YouTube Strategy & Governance will serve as the central strategy lead for The Walt Disney Company’s YouTube presence. This role oversees the intersection of brand strategy, digital operations, and enterprise governance. The Director collaborates across segments, markets and the digital teams that drive creative content strategy for Disney’s YouTube channels, ensuring enterprise priorities are reflected in on-channel execution.

Responsibilities:Enterprise Strategy & Channel Optimization
  • Define the cross-company YouTube channel optimization, including global vs. regional channel approach, channel rationalization, and footprint optimization across Disney’s portfolio
  • Set enterprise-wide content priorities—determining which franchises and brands to invest in based on audience research, brand strategy, and business objectives
  • Establish channel architecture to maximize reach, engagement, and brand consistency
  • Define windowing strategy, balancing audience development with monetization objectives
Governance & Compliance
  • Oversee governance of The Walt Disney Company’s YouTube CMS ecosystem and all underlying channels across business segments
  • Manage content classification and categorization (MFK vs. GA), ensuring all channels are properly configured and integrated into their respective environments
  • Establish and enforce standards for user permissions, advertising policy, channel management, and content compliance
  • Work closely with Legal teams to ensure ongoing regulatory and platform-policy compliance across the enterprise
Policy Development & Oversight
  • Define and maintain enterprise-wide policies spanning channel management, monetization, content classification, and compliance
  • Track adherence to policies across business segments and international markets; identify gaps and drive continuous improvement
  • Serve as the internal authority on YouTube platform policies and their application across Disney’s operations
Performance Measurement & Competitive Intelligence
  • In collaboration with the business segments, define success criteria, KPIs, and enterprise-wide pillars for YouTube content performance
  • Track and analyze performance at brand, franchise, and audience levels; translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Monitor the competitive landscape, platform algorithm evolution, and industry trends to keep Disney’s strategy ahead of the curve
Cross-functional Collaboration & Platform Partnership
  • Drive alignment across lines of business through clear prioritization frameworks and ongoing governance structures
  • Track and report initiative progress to senior leadership
  • Partner closely with digital creative teams responsible for content strategy and channel execution to ensure alignment between enterprise priorities and on-channel delivery
  • Scale best practices for content uploads, metadata management, and compliance across the organization
  • Coordinate with international markets to balance global strategy with regional content needs and audience priorities
  • Partner with the digital teams and directly with YouTube on platform roadmap, algorithm shifts, performance trends, and competitive benchmarks
Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Deep expertise in digital platform strategy
  • Strong command of YouTube’s ecosystem—including its algorithm, monetization mechanics, content policies, and governance requirements
  • Equally comfortable defining high-level enterprise strategy and driving operational rigor
  • Demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional initiatives in large, complex organizations
  • A strong background in brand strategy
  • Deep knowledge of performance analytics and ability to create meaningful KPIs
  • Highly developed relationship management skills are essential
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer brands is preferred.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, analytics or related field or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $185,484 to $248,820 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
