Job Description:

The National Geographic Content Operations team, part of the Disney Entertainment Television group,is responsible forsupporting the prioritization and delivery of National Geographic content across multiple platforms, including linear, nonlinear, direct-to-consumer (DTC), and YouTube. The team oversees the delivery of hundreds of hours of premiere programming each year, in addition to managing an extensive library of long- and short-form content.

Working across linear and nonlinear television, Disney+, YouTube, and other distribution channels, the team ensures that content produced bycreative teams aligns withprogramming strategy and is delivered on schedule to support premieres and localization efforts. In addition, the team plays a critical role inidentifyingand resolving operational challenges, proactively managing timelines, and implementing adjustments as needed tomaintainefficient andtimelycontent delivery.

The Content Operations YouTube Specialistis responsible formanaging content implementation across National Geographic's YouTube portfolio, including NG Brand, NG Animals, NGenEspanol, and NG Kids. This role serves as a hands-on operator, executing day-to-day channel operations while partnering closely with Programming to ensure content is delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with current YouTube specifications.

The Specialist mustdemonstratestrongproficiencyin YouTube Studio, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Key responsibilities include publishing both short and long-form content,maintainingand updating metadata fields, and ensuring overall content quality and consistency across channels.

This role also requires proactive troubleshooting andtimelyresolution of platform or delivery issues. The Specialist collaborates closely withPost Productionteams andinternal resources, as well as with Programming and Strategy teams through regular touchpoints, to ensure alignment with broader content and audience strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Production & Publishing
  • Upload content across YouTube channels,includingfull episodes,mega episodes, livestreams, shortform, verticalshorts, trailers
  • Execute end-to-end publishing workflows:titles, descriptions, metadata, tags, chapters,occasionally thumbnailsand end screens
  • Ensure accuracy, quality control, andtimelydelivery of all published content
  • Support execution of content plans defined by Programming Strategy team
  • Channel Operations & Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot publishing, CMS, or platform issues and provide feedback on tools and workflows
  • Serve as a key operational contact for YouTube/Google partners and internal stakeholders (e.g., claims, monetization workflows)
  • Support testing and iteration of content formats and presentations
  • Content Optimization & Platform Best Practices
  • Implement YouTube best practices across all uploads and channel experiences
  • Stay current on platform trends, algorithm shifts and emerging features
  • Assistin testing and refining thumbnails, titles, and formats using performance insights
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Programming, Production, Marketing and Digital teams to execute content plans
  • Support promotional campaigns, tentpoles and cross-platform initiatives
  • Assistwith implementation of platform features such as Shorts or Live initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience working with creative teams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritizeworkflowand work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to learn new systemsquickly andwork independently.
  • Demonstrated experience withAirtable,YouTube Studio,Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams,andVantage.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards change and be open to feedback from all levels in the company.
  • Be committed to making continuous improvements andmaintaina "teamwork" attitude.
  • Must have strong customer solutions/client relation skills and should have the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects whileremainingcalm under pressure.
  • Proficient with Mac and PC computers.
  • Interestand awareness for National Geographicprogramming.
  • Expertise infile types and how tooptimizecontent for digital platforms.

Education:

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in media related field or equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C, is $59,600 to $79,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
