THIS IS AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST POSTING FOR UPCOMING FULL TIME AND PART TIME SECURITY OFFICER OPPORTUNITIES AT OUR TV STATION IN DURHAM, NC

Our Security Officers play a critical role in supporting station operations, providing 24/7 protection for our facilities and the people who work in them. As a Security Officer, you’ll be part of a well-trained, cohesive team that provides security and safety services for all ABC owned and leased facilities. Your mission? To protect Disney property and safeguard our people!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet, screen, and direct all visitors following established procedures at ABC station facilities.
  • Enforce company security and parking policies consistently and fairly.
  • Monitor company property, identify and report safety and security hazards, and secure property as directed.
  • Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues or irregularities.
  • Perform access control duties at high-traffic exterior posts and conduct vehicle inspections in accordance with established protocols.
  • Respond to medical, fire, security, and other safety-related emergencies and incidents as trained; work directly with local first responders.
  • Accurately complete logbooks, incident reports, and work orders as required.
  • Assist with the distribution and tracking of departmental keys.
  • Utilize technology to report and document incidents and manage information flow.
  • Provide general information to visitors and employees in a friendly, professional manner.
  • May monitor fire alarm control panels and interpret alarm indicators for emergency type and location; respond rapidly to emergencies.
  • May assist with scheduling maintenance for fleet vehicles and dispatch maintenance personnel as needed.
  • May monitor radio channels for facilities and safety communications.
  • May provide security presence at special events (on or off-site) and perform walk-through evaluations at off-site events.
  • May be asked to establish barricades, operate gates, and direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • Complete special assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of corporate security, law enforcement, military, or related customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, and strong command of basic English grammar.
  • Ability to make quick decisions using training and common sense.
  • Team orientation and willingness to collaborate; ability to perform tasks independently within established guidelines.
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job and be outside in all weather.
  • Flexible workdays/hours (this is a shift work role) and ability to work some overtime.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license.
  • Must currently possess and maintain a valid Security Guard license issued by your state (or be able to obtain before hire).
  • Ability to perform basic work tasks on computers, including using MS Outlook email and Word.
  • Maintain a professional presence in image and interactions at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Security Guard license issued by your state.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working under pressure.
  • Ability to take command and diplomatically control difficult situations.
  • Superior writing ability.
  • Strong leadership, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in Facilities Management or similar field handling service requests.
  • Ability to operate company transportation, including fleet and golf cart vehicles.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
