Job description

Disaster Response Armed Officer
Location: Hillsborough and Manatee Counties, FL
Employment Type: Reserve Force Officer (RFO)—On-Call Flex Position
Shifts Available: Monday through Sunday
Shift Time: Between 07:00 – 19:00 or 19:00 – 07:00
Flexible scheduling for 12-hour shifts.
Compensation: $30 per hour

Martinez and Company Security is seeking exceptional individuals to join its disaster relief efforts. We are looking for self-motivated and passionate professionals to join the On-Call Disaster Response Team, providing immediate and potentially long-term relief in areas impacted by natural disasters. This position supports community resilience by responding to hurricane emergency shelters and industrial infrastructure. Job sites may include shelters, commercial, and industrial locations affected by disasters. Our Emergency Response Security Units, staffed by highly trained officers, are prepared for rapid deployment to monitor assigned impact areas during emergencies.

We are hiring licensed Florida security officers to serve as independent contractors for temporary assignments during heightened security alerts. We are specifically seeking highly professional Armed “G” license officers for access control duties. Candidates must be dependable, follow directions, and exercise sound judgment. These positions support emergency operations in Hillsborough and Manatee Counties, with posts located in the Tampa area. Shifts are 12 hours (07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00).

Principal duties and responsibilities:
  • Immediate Response: Be on-call 24/7 and ready to report to assigned job sites within 8 hours of notification, including during weekends and evenings.
  • Flexibility: Work 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:00 or 19:00-07:00) with overtime as needed. Officers must be willing to work swing, graveyard, and weekend shifts. Participating in off-hours and extended deployments throughout Florida as needed.
  • Disaster Response: Must be ready, willing, and able to report to ANY site assignment on short notice despite disaster or inclement weather and able to promptly respond to any site anytime, day or night, in response to emergency, disaster, and/or exigent circumstances, and/or for scheduled meetings. Responding to job sites within 2 hours or 250 miles of Tampa, primarily in Hillsborough and Manatee Counties
  • Security Management: Respond to emergencies and security threats with professionalism, following established protocols. Provide clear instructions to others and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Effectively solve problems and coordinate emergency responses. Responds to emergency situations or security threats in a professional manner, following established procedures.
Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • Possession of an approved Florida Class "D" amp; "G" license from the DOACS.
  • Completion of an approved State of Florida 40-hour Unarmed and 28-hour Armed Security Officer Course.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to provide proof of a high school diploma, college degree, DD-214, school transcript, or a valid state GED certificate.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience as an Emergency Response Security Officer or in a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
  • Reliable personal transportation to various job sites.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including days, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable personal transportation and ability to commute to various job sites as assigned.
  • 24/7 access to a smartphone (Android, iPhone, or Windows) and computer with internet access.
  • Team player mentality. Ability to place the needs of the many over one’s own.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including email, web browsing, MS Word, and Adobe PDF.
  • Ability to work safely in various environments, including commercial and industrial locations.
  • Ability to obtain personal uniform items, as necessary.
  • Must be in good physical condition, capable of walking up and down stairs in limited spaces, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to prioritize and accomplish job-related goals and tasks based on training and experience.
  • Strong English communication skills, including reading and writing: Ability to read and interpret complex instructions, procedures, SOPs, post orders, statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Must maintain a neat, professional appearance and wear the complete and clean assigned uniform, including covering any tattoos that may be exposed in the uniform. Must also adhere to grooming standards (hair, nails, beards, etc.) per SOP.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background investigation.
Preferred Skills
  • CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience working with FEMA or similar disaster relief agencies.
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience is required for the elite force.
  • Experience in emergency response or disaster management is a plus.
  • In possession of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
