We are seeking a Senior Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineer to lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise data protection strategies across a complex, high-availability environment.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in mission-critical infrastructure, has deep hands-on experience with Rubrik and Zerto, and can confidently own backup integrity, disaster recovery execution, and business continuity outcomes.
You will play a key role in safeguarding enterprise systems against data loss, cyber threats, and operational disruptions, while driving modernization and resilience across both on-premise and hybrid environments.
This is a 100% on-site role in Johns Creek, GA. Remote or hybrid candidates will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities
Backup & Data Protection
  • Administer and optimize Rubrik backup environments.
  • Configure SLA domains and backup retention policies.
  • Monitor backup health and conduct capacity planning.
Disaster Recovery & Replication
  • Manage Zerto replication, including failover and failback workflows.
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and document outcomes.
  • Validate that recovery point and recovery time objectives (RPO/RTO) are met.
Infrastructure & Integration
  • Support VMware environments and storage platforms (e.g., Pure, NetApp).
  • Integrate backup solutions with cloud platforms if applicable (Azure, AWS).
  • Perform isolated recovery environment (IRE) testing.
Incident Response & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead responses to data loss or system outages with coordinated recovery.
  • Analyze root causes and implement preventative measures.
  • Continuously improve backup and DR processes in line with evolving threats.
Governance & Compliance
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for backup and recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
  • Develop DR runbooks and operational documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of enterprise backup and disaster recovery experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Rubrik backup solutions
  • Proven experience with Zerto replication and DR orchestration
  • Deep understanding of disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution
  • Experience supporting virtualized environments (VMware) and enterprise storage
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in production environments
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Quantum storage systems
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) in backup/DR contexts
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale DR testing and compliance audits
  • Relevant certifications (VMCE, CDMP, or similar)
