Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our new autism therapy team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans that promote sensory regulation, fine motor development, self-care skills, social participation, and independence in daily living.

Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

  • Provide engaging, individualized therapy sessions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities.

  • Assist children in developing fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care, and daily living skills.

  • Accurately document treatment sessions, progress, and patient responses in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, behavior analysts, speech therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.

  • Educate and support parents and caregivers by demonstrating home activities and strategies.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic treatment environment.

  • Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Current Missouri Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification.

  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • Experience working with children is preferred.

  • Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory integration, or pediatric therapy is highly preferred.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, child-centered environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of sensory processing and sensory integration techniques.

  • Experience implementing pediatric occupational therapy interventions.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

  • Creativity, patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm.

  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation.
