Overview

Director on the Growth & Strategy team at X-energy shapes and executes the company\'s corporate strategy and drives growth initiatives. The role involves identifying and evaluating new markets, strategic partnerships, potential acquisitions, and business initiatives that define X-energy\'s future. It requires working across functions to translate engineering, commercial, and financial perspectives into actionable decisions and delivering high-impact results with executive visibility.

Responsibilities
  • Lead substantial work scopes for the team, build relationships with senior leaders, and direct multiple team members in execution.
  • Lead corporate development opportunities and strategies related to new business ventures, customer-facing service lines, capital formation, M&A, and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to surface solutions and execution plans that improve cost, schedule, and technical or commercial viability of projects and businesses.
  • Direct company-wide strategy development, develop coherent presentations, analyses, and processes to align operations with long-term goals.
  • Drive the development and evolution of financial models across a portfolio of infrastructure and energy investments, ensuring reliability and usefulness for decision making.
  • Build buy-in with senior leadership through prepared presentations for meetings with executives, the board, and investors.
  • Support team execution of core tasks and responsibilities with guided supervision.
  • Share knowledge of industry best practices and standards across the team.
  • Drive alignment and clarity among stakeholders including clients, executives, engineers, and commercial teams by presenting, defending, and explaining key decisions.
  • Proactively identify business cases in response to strategic questions, including deals, financing, or other priorities.
  • Provide and implement effective operating systems and processes to model leadership and improve junior staff quality of work.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in all communications and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field.
  • Typically fifteen years of general work experience.
  • MBA with three or more years of related experience in strategy, finance, or similar roles (can be in lieu of fifteen years of general experience).
  • Demonstrated strength in developing cogent executive and board-level presentation decks; strong PowerPoint and Excel modeling skills.
  • Experience with strategy development (market and competitor analysis, opportunity identification, business case development and evaluation).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information to executive leaders.
Location and Work Style

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office

Travel Expectations: 10% (as needed for project assignment)

Hours: 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday – Friday

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $207,000 – $232,000 base salary. Compensation includes a base salary plus an annual short-term incentive; ranges may vary by location and qualifications. Benefits include a robust package with a 401(k) plan with employer match, medical/dental/vision insurance, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement/professional development support.
