Position Overview:

As part of the talented strategy team, you will play a vital role in assisting Mercury to transform to better meet the changing needs of demanding customers, while delivering profitable growth and innovation through a short and long-term vision. The Director of Strategy will possess a strong strategic mindset, toolkit and experience base, and will possess strong executive presence to have credibility with all levels of management and staff. This position will report to the CFO, Mercury Marine and will be based in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin

Essential Functions:

  • This role has primary responsibility to shape the strategies and plans for long-term vision, growth and profitability improvement for the Mercury, across the portfolio, products, technologies, customers, channel, geographies, etc. This role will identify and analyze strategic alternatives, prioritize options, make fact-based recommendations and execute projects, considering all aspects of the Mercury portfolio and points of intersection with the broader enterprise.
  • Work closely with all regional, category and functional leaders on strategic planning, portfolio and technology optimization, financial and business analysis, and business development activities, and execution plans where needed
  • Play an integral part in our annual strategic planning process.
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities through organic and inorganic initiatives, including M&A, joint ventures, supporting deal negotiations and coordinating due diligence activities.
  • Conduct ongoing market analysis and competitor assessments, with an externally focused orientation regarding awareness and insightful analysis of global, economic, market and competitive activities, trends and developments.
  • Provide Mercury leadership with recommendations to accomplish program objectives and execute strategic initiatives based on thorough research and analysis.
  • Participate in special projects across multiple functional areas including but not limited to: Strategic Marketing, business plan development, Human Resources, Finance, Corporate and initial market assessments for new product concepts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive work experience in relevant disciplines and functions, include working across business groups within multi-national organizations
  • Strong strategic mindset, toolkit and capabilities; Thought leadership and best practice knowledge, together with solid evidence of results orientation
  • Rigorous analytical capabilities, ability to translate large data into concise insights, decision-making expertise
  • Transformational mindset, with a track record of successfully delivering change and growth initiatives
  • Emphasis on collaboration and influencing capabilities, to drive alignment and action with peers and colleagues, including working with Mercury leadership team and strategy peers across Brunswick.
  • Experience working with senior levels of management in a large public organization, including excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage complexity, considering multiple brands/locations/divisions/geographies
  • Business and financial acumen in all aspects of P&L drivers and management, with cross-functional knowledge and prior experience in multiple disciplines
  • Excellent time management, with a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

The hiring range for this position is $132,500 - 196,000 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an award target as part of Brunswick's long-term incentive program.
