Project Director / Sr. Project Manager - Mechanical Construction - Industrial Manufacturing Facilities - Charlotte, NC


Gryphon Oakwood is currently partnered with a leading Mechanical Contractor seeking a Project Director / Sr. Project Manager to lead large-scale industrial manufacturing facility construction projects across North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex mechanical construction projects, including process piping, utility systems, and equipment installations within industrial manufacturing, life sciences, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or other advanced manufacturing environments.


The Project Director / Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects from preconstruction through commissioning, leading project teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. This individual will play a key role in business development, strategic planning, subcontractor management, and operational execution across multiple projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of large-scale industrial manufacturing facility construction projects.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineering partners, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee project teams including Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Drive safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout all phases of construction.
  • Support preconstruction activities including estimating, constructibility reviews, and project planning.
  • Ensure successful project turnover, startup, and commissioning activities.


Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management.
  • Proven experience delivering industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical, life sciences, food & beverage, or similar process-focused projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, process piping, equipment installation, and construction execution.
  • Experience managing large capital projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent client-facing, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
