General Summary:

A Senior Project Manager is a versatile self-starter and visionary leader who oversees an overall program or large, complex project portfolio. Accountable for all aspects of project delivery, this role goes beyond execution to encompass strategy, leadership, and the management of key client relationships. As a leader, the Senior Project Manager guides a team of a team of Project Managers, delegating responsibilities and providing oversight across the full project lifecycle, from job creation through final client delivery.


To be successful in the position, a Senior Project Manager must excel at the operational elements of program and project management - meeting deadlines, adhering to budgets, and driving deliverables to completion - while overseeing and supporting their team's efforts. Equally important is the ability to anticipate issues proactively and ask the right questions to clarify project instructions and align on client expectations.

Requirements

 Leadership -

  • Customer focused; Direct client contact
  • Works closely with Account Director and Project Manager(s)
  • Works collaboratively with one or more project managers simultaneously and oversees the quality of their work, reviews job tickets.
  • Reviews RFQ's; Gathers specs and requests estimates collaboratively with Account Director
  • Provides material samples (stock, ink, foil, etc.) to Account Director or directly to client
  • Works with and advises client when the scope of the program/project extends outside the originally approved quote, and documents changes
  • Initiates request to Creative Dept. for content creation and any modifications in conjunction with team
  • Partners with sales team to record customer orders, generate estimates, and develop project timelines
  • Provides accurate estimates and schedule expectations to the Project Manager when delegating
  • Fosters an environment of and actively participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement internally and externally to improve operations


Operational Execution -

  • Collaborates with internal departments and outside vendors to develop prototypes
  • Creates complex and detailed Excel grids/distros for a Program/Project and maintains the integrity of the data
  • Arrange and manage Kick Off Meetings with appropriate stakeholders
  • Writes job tickets as needed to maintain the schedule of all programs/projects assigned to the team.
  • Reviews the timeliness of job tickets being submitted to the Scheduler
  •  Responsible for Press Checks
  • Maintains awareness that all programs/projects will be completed and shipped on time
  • Gathers tracking reports and supplies to client when needed. Monitors tracking for any issues and corrects or seeks information from clients as needed.
  • Manages/Supervises/Coordinates Installations; Gathers and archives installation photos by location
  • Makes final updates to Grid/Distro once the Program/Project is completed
  • Assists in problem-solving production process issues, resulting in corrective measures
  • Actively participates in achievement of corporate business objectives

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has a dotted line supervisory responsibility over assigned Project Managers and works closely with the sales team when needed. This includes directing daily activities, managing team workload, maintaining project schedules, and serving as a direct point of contact for clients.



Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint with a main emphasis in Excel
  • Knowledge of ePs software a plus but not required for a quick learner.
  • Must be dependable and have a solid work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and deal with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations

Print background a plus but not required if you possess a strong desire to learn


Minimum Experience and Education Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree and/or 5+ years of progressive experience as a Project/Program Manager
  • Experience and/or education in the printing industry with exposure to electronic prepress, print production (Sheetfed, Wide Format, Small Format Digital), customer service, and leadership and/or management preferred.
