Job description

Director of Imaging
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Position Overview
Director of Imaging to lead a high-performing radiology department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, driving quality and performance initiatives, and ensuring exceptional patient care across all imaging services.
The Director will manage a busy imaging department performing approximately:
  • 700 general radiology studies/month
  • 90 MRIs/month
  • 250 ultrasounds/month
  • 375 CT scans/month
  • 80 nuclear medicine scans/month
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with organizational, clinical, and regulatory standards
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth
Operations Management
  • Oversee daily imaging operations, including patient care delivery and service efficiency
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Manage patient experience, including service recovery and complaint resolution
Staff Management
  • Lead staffing functions including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and development
  • Support continuing education and certification initiatives
Financial Oversight
  • Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets
  • Ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high-quality care
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and accreditation requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external audits
  • Maintain high standards for safety and quality assurance
Technology & Systems
  • Oversee imaging technologies and systems (e.g., RIS/PACS)
  • Partner with IT teams to optimize workflows and data management
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Current New Mexico state imaging license
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
Certifications
  • BLS certification (or obtained within 90 days through American Heart Association)
Experience
  • Proven leadership experience in radiology/imaging services
  • Strong background in clinical operations, budgeting, and team management
