Is $100,000 enough to work with a financial advisor?

For a Director Ria or similar financial professionals, a $100,000 investment can be sufficient to work with a financial advisor, depending on the advisor's fee structure and the complexity of your financial goals. Many advisors charge a percentage of assets under management or flat fees, so the amount needed varies based on the services required and the advisor's policies.

How many financial advisors make $500,000 a year?

In the financial advisory profession, a small percentage of top-performing financial advisors earn $500,000 or more annually, often due to high client assets, extensive experience, and advanced certifications like the CFP or CFA. Achieving this level typically requires managing a large client portfolio, strong sales skills, and a high level of industry experience.

What is a Director Ria?

A Director Ria is typically a high-level executive responsible for overseeing a specific department, program, or business unit within an organization named Ria, such as Ria Money Transfer. The role involves strategic planning, managing teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving business growth. Directors at this level are also responsible for setting goals, monitoring performance, and collaborating with other senior leaders to achieve organizational objectives. Their work often requires extensive experience in management, leadership, and the industry relevant to their organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Director at Ria, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director at Ria, you generally need strong leadership abilities, strategic planning experience, and a solid background in financial services or money transfer operations, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with compliance systems, financial reporting tools, and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and cross-cultural collaboration skills help a Director stand out in this international setting. These qualifications and skills are vital to drive business growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and effectively lead diverse teams in the fast-paced remittance industry.

What are some common challenges faced by a Director in a Remittance and International Affairs (RIA) role, and how can they be addressed?

A Director in Remittance and International Affairs often faces challenges such as navigating complex regulatory environments across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) laws, and adapting to rapidly evolving financial technologies. Building strong relationships with global partners and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local and international regulations are essential for success. Effective Directors foster a culture of compliance, encourage open communication within their teams, and leverage technology to streamline operations and enhance security.

How much does the average RIA make?

The average Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) earns between $100,000 and $200,000 annually, depending on experience, client base, and firm size. Senior RIAs or those managing larger portfolios can earn significantly more, especially with additional certifications like the CFP or CFA. Compensation often includes base salary, bonuses, and profit sharing, and many RIAs work in a client-facing environment requiring strong financial and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
As Internal Sales - RIA Distribution with Hines, you will serve as a consultative distribution professional responsible for helping strategically build the Hines Private Wealth Solutions platform across large RIA and RIA aggregator channels. The role will support the local Senior Director - Private Wealth Solutions (RIA Distribution), the broader RIA team, and senior leadership to drive sales and AUM growth across direct deals, flagship offerings, and evergreen solutions.
This individual will combine advisor-facing engagement, investment-oriented consultation, market and product positioning, data-driven territory planning, CRM discipline, and cross-functional coordination. The role requires sound judgment in evaluating advisor needs, prioritizing opportunities, interpreting distribution trends, recommending resource allocation, and advancing qualified opportunities in a compliant and consultative manner. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop, maintain, and refine RIA-focused business plans, including advisor segmentation, relationship strategy, go-to-market priorities, meeting cadence, and execution plans.
  • Generate and maintain continuous touchpoints by email, phone, Zoom, and in-person meetings, as appropriate, to build rapport, trust, connectivity, and timely follow-up with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Build consultative relationships and expand market share with key centers of influence across large RIAs, RIA aggregators, financial advisors, gatekeepers, and other decision-makers
  • Partner with the local Senior Director - Private Wealth Solutions (RIA), along with the broader U.S. Private Wealth Solutions team, to prioritize opportunities, coordinate meetings and follow-up, and execute engagement strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver advisor-facing presentations, market updates, product education sessions, due diligence discussions, portfolio positioning materials, and meeting content.
  • Provide consultative support regarding private real estate, REITs, private investments, flagship offerings, evergreen solutions, product features, risks, limitations, and approved use cases within compliance parameters.
  • Analyze advisor, firm, and platform-level data to identify growth opportunities, underpenetrated relationships, product positioning opportunities, potential risks, and strategic gaps within the RIA channel.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of advisor interactions, opportunities, meeting notes, follow-up items, and business intelligence.
  • Monitor territory and channel performance against business plans, KPIs, and OKRs; recommend adjustments to coverage strategy, advisor engagement, messaging, and resource deployment.
  • Identify and interpret trends in private wealth distribution, advisor behavior, competitive positioning, platform adoption, fund flows, market conditions, and investor demand.
  • Determine when to involve or escalate matters to product specialists, compliance, national accounts, investor relations, marketing, operations, or senior leadership to advance opportunities or resolve issues.
  • Support systematic participation at regional and national RIA/Aggregator conferences, advisor events, educational campaigns, and firm meetings.
  • Contribute to thought-leadership, content-generation, advisor education, and process-improvement initiatives that enhance advisor experience, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture by sharing best practices, supporting team development, and promoting knowledge sharing across the RIA team and broader PWS sales group.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements Include:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 required or expected to be obtained within an approved time frame
  • CAIA, CIMA, CFP, CFA, or other investment-related designation preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in financial services, private wealth distribution, intermediary sales, asset management, alternative investments, wholesaling, investment consulting, or a related role.
  • Preferably previous experience working with financial advisors, RIAs, RIA aggregators, broker-dealers, private banks, wealth management platforms, or other financial intermediary partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to support advisor engagement, product education, due diligence discussions, sales execution, and relationship advancement in partnership with external sales professionals and senior leadership.
  • Experience interpreting investment product features, advisor needs, market trends, competitive intelligence, fund flows, CRM activity, and distribution data.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding activity targets, sales goals, or business-development objectives.
  • Strong understanding of the Private Wealth market, including RIAs, RIA aggregators, advisor practice models, private wealth sub-segments, platform dynamics, and capital-raising processes.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets, macroeconomics, asset allocation, real estate, or private markets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex investment concepts, product features, risks, limitations, and portfolio applications to sophisticated financial professionals.
  • Strong relationship-management, consultative selling, written communication, verbal communication, presentation, advisor education, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to analyze advisor needs, territory data, platform trends, and business opportunities to recommend effective sales, resource, and product-positioning strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including the RIA team, broader PWS sales group, marketing, product, compliance, operations, investor relations, national accounts, and senior leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, virtual meeting platforms, investment analytics tools, and necessary large language models.
  • Strong professionalism, attention to detail, initiative, organizational discipline, and ability to prioritize meetings, follow-up, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work indoors in a professional office or hybrid office environment when not traveling for business needs.
  • Operate personal computer, phone, video conferencing tools, CRM systems, and other office equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required and may include air travel, driving, overnight stays, advisor meetings, RIA/Aggregator conferences, client entertainment, and firm events.
