SENIOR DONOR ENGAGEMENT LEAD POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Donor Engagement Specialist leads donor stewardship and engagement efforts in support of the organization’s mission and ministry. This role builds and maintains long-term donor relationships through strategic, personalized outreach while ensuring effective stewardship, accurate data management, and meaningful reporting. Working independently and in collaboration with the Executive Director, Board, and key staff, the position aligns donor engagement strategies with organizational goals and requires strong judgment, initiative, and a deep commitment to serving Native communities within the context of Lutheran theology and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Engagement and Stewardship
• Consistently engage with donors through personalized strategic contact, respecting past and future giving intentions.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with donors; identify opportunities for continued engagement and increased support.
• Ensure timely and thoughtful stewardship including thank-you communications, impact updates, and donor recognition.


Data, Reporting, and Database Management
• Manage donor information using a donor database (e.g., Raisers Edge or equivalent).
• Maintain accurate records of all donor interactions and updating relevant data.
• Generate and present monthly reports on donor engagement outcomes and metrics to the Executive Director, Board of Directors and/or key Ministry Staff.


Strategy and Process Improvement
• Assist in the refinement and implementation of donor engagement processes and workflow improvements.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen donor outreach, stewardship practices, and internal systems.
• Participate in organizational meetings as agreed with leadership to ensure alignment of donor engagement with organizational goals.


Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support fundraising efforts and execute relationship-building strategies.
• Support coordination of donor-focused events and activities as needed.


Other Duties
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit, communications, business, or related fields.
• 5–8 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, development, or related nonprofit work.

• Experience with Raisers Edge or similar donor database systems.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse constituents.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• The ability to use a computer and computer programs, including Office 365.
• Knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of standard office equipment.
• Must have a heart for outreach and a passion for Native people.
• Must understand, uphold, and be sensitive to Lutheran Theology and traditions.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing or improving donor engagement processes.
• Knowledge of Alaska nonprofit landscape and community context.
