Description

Position Summary:

Supervises and directs staff in maintenance and laundry. Responsible for physical operation of hospital, long-term care facility, home health & hospice, behavioral health, durable medical equipment and medical clinics. Leads, plans, organizes and controls the operation of the engineering and maintenance department to include functions of forecasting, establishing objectives, programming, scheduling, budgeting and administering policies and procedures affecting facility and grounds maintenance and plant operations. Recommends development of physical facilities. Establishes and administers preventative maintenance. Directs safety, fire control and security. Responsible for changing regulations. Responsible for budget for plant operations.

Requirements

Education:

Boiler operator's license, building operator certification, or limited Registration: maintenance industrial electrical license or journeyman's card in any building trade required.

High school graduate, or GED required. Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for a hospital or similar organization equivalent.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Boiler operator's license, building operator certification, or limited Registration: maintenance industrial electrical license or journeyman's card in any building trade required.

Experience:

Five to ten years' progressive experience in supervision and maintenance in installation and construction, as well as maintenance of equipment, utilities and building.

Job Knowledge:

Must have workable knowledge of H.V.A.C. systems & boiler maintenance. Must be familiar with code requirements for plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Must know or learn State of Oregon Fire, Life/Safety Codes for healthcare facilities and OHSA requirements.

Skills:

Must be skilled with all hand tools, test equipment, power tools, and grounds equipment. Must be able to read blueprints, building plans, technical manuals. Must be familiar with medical equipment and safety checks. Must be able to interact with other departments and supervisors.
