Pharmacy Director Opportunity

Northern Nevada Medical Center's tradition of providing quality healthcare in a comfortable, accessible environment means peace of mind for the thousands of patients served by the hospital each year. This Pharmacy Director opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule. This individual will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department; ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborns to the elderly; directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals and related substances and supplies; participates in the department's planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education and human resources activities.

Job duties include collaborating with hospital administration on planning, organizing and directing Pharmacy Department operations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. The role also involves monitoring activities of the Pharmacy Department and taking appropriate action as necessary to ensure efficient and effective operation. Additionally, the individual will collaborate closely with the nursing and medical staffs and other clinical department managers in addressing Pharmacy Department issues as they are related to the services provided to all patients ranging from the newborn to the elderly. Understanding dosage variations between different age groups and knowing where to find appropriate information is also part of the role. The Pharmacy Director will monitor the provision of patient pharmaceutical care to optimize patient safety and reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors. They will also coordinate the development/revision, implementation and communication of policies, guidelines and standards for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with the hospital's policies, Joint Commission medication management standards, federal and state regulations.

Qualifications include current pharmacist certification or licensure in the State of Nevada, at least five (5) years experience in a management role, current BLS and ACLS certifications.
