Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations – RWJBarnabas Health

At RWJBarnabas Health, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations manages daily operations of the Pharmacy and Pharmacy Residents, including all technical, administrative, and clerical operations to ensure that quality, access and budget goals are achieved. The Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations will ensure that all activities in the department are implemented in accordance with regulatory standards and hospital policies, and they will utilize sound judgement and independent thinking to handle complex and crisis situations. A typical day for an Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations may include:

  • Addressing day-to-day clinical issues with interdisciplinary group and serve as a clinical pharmacy resource.
  • Serving as a clinical resource for the provision of pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy services at the site level, building effective relationships with other healthcare professionals and departments within the hospital and company, and coordinating all activities related to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and formulary management.
  • Developing and maintaining Policies and Procedures. Adjusting to reflect current standards, regulations and practice. Informing staff of any changes to policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing PGY-1 General Practice Residency program. Precepting IPPE and APPE students from Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy.
  • Actively participating in Committees and Performance Improvement Initiatives including, but not limited to P&T, Medication Safety Committee, Sepsis Committee, Oncology P&T.
