Summary
The Director, Engineering role is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the compression engineering team, facility design initiatives, and aftermarket support. Reporting to the Vice President, Fleet and Engineering, this role emphasizes proactive collaboration and engagement with both customers and internal stakeholders to adapt to evolving demands and deliver exceptional solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management principles into all products, designs, and processes.

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for the engineering team, aligning objectives with company goals and project requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.

  • Create detailed scopes and engineering plans for various projects, ensuring alignment with goals and resources.

  • Ensure all applications adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and codes.

  • Oversee and review design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance, including work by internal and external teams.

  • Provide advanced technical guidance and resolve complex engineering challenges effectively.

  • Partner with project managers, operational teams, and stakeholders to deliver necessary engineering support.

  • Analyze and estimate costs related to fleet, projects, facilities, and AMS.

  • Develop project timelines, monitor progress, and generate comprehensive reports.

  • Collaborate with vendors and external contractors to ensure the quality and reliability of products and services.

  • Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and overall performance.

  • Lead the training, development, and upskilling of the engineering team to foster growth and innovation.

  • Support and drive change management initiatives, including the rollout of new programs and processes.

  • Uphold and champion engineering principles, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and company codes of conduct.

  • Proactively explore and implement solutions to reduce fleet emissions, comply with new regulations, and achieve ESG targets.

  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent to strengthen the team.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required

Work Experience
  • 10+ years of natural gas compression industry experience preferred

  • Proven track record leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team

Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry codes and standards

  • Knowledge of construction procedures and equipment

  • Knowledge and understanding of equipment sizing

  • Knowledge and understanding of Process Simulation (Promax or similar)

  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks

  • Effective communicator across all levels of management

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to grow and maintain a dynamic, positive organizational culture.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in Ariel Performance Program

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions

  • Must be available and able to work at any time / be on call

  • Must be able to bend, climb, and walk on all types of surfaces

  • May be required to sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to travel to/from site locations

  • Must be able to work under pressure and occasional long or irregular hours
