Responsibilities & Expectations:

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Director of Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the integration of complex power systems and power electronic equipment and ensuring that all components work together seamlessly. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to drive the development and implementation of innovative electrical designs in the power management division of IPS.

This role will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of IPS Power MD engineering projects and services specifically supporting our Custom Equipment business.

Actively participate in the IPS UCE tier meeting process

Provide engineering and technical support to PMD teams and centers.

Ensure that IPS solutions meet customer expectations and applicable industry standards.

Assist with implementation of quality improvement actions.

Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures.

Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and Processes.

Enforce strict safety protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements in all engineering and shop activities.

Lead the medium and high voltage electrical design integration process, ensuring that all electrical components and systems meet technical specifications and quality standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software development, and quality assurance, to ensure integrated and cohesive design solutions.

Develop and implement integration strategies for complex electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and communication interfaces.

Conduct system-level design reviews, simulations, and validation tests to verify system performance and reliability.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and design teams.

Develop and supervise site electrical procedures, providing technical guidance for connections and wiring systems.

Oversee project execution from start to finish, interface with stakeholders, and ensure applications meet regulation standards.

Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to meet deliverables and milestones.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in electrical engineering and design integration.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or a closely related degree, plus five to ten years' electrical engineering experience in design and testing preferred

Comprehensive knowledge of control system design including MV switchgear, PLC's, VFD's, programming, panel layout, component selection, testing and modifications

Some knowledge of panel board, lighting, outlet, grounding, conduit and wiring design.

Ability to create, read or modify 1-line drawings, layout drawings, schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams

Ability and willingness to travel as needed

Strong interpersonal skills

Proficient with NFPA 70E, NEC

Proficient computer skills including MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Electric, E-Plan and SolidWorks.

Ability to work with unit teams in various levels and manage projects as needed
