Position Overview

The Director of Application Engineering leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the application engineering function supporting the companyโ€™s electrical solutions portfolio. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and competitive technical solutions in response to customer requirements, while aligning resources with business objectives, operational capacity, and market demands.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Application Engineering team, driving performance, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical proposals, quotations, and engineered solutions for products such as switchgear, E-Houses, PDUs, RPPs, and related electrical distribution equipment.
  • Establish and optimize processes to improve quote turnaround time, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and Manufacturing to ensure alignment on scope, cost, and delivery.
  • Drive quote configurator strategies to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure all engineered solutions comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Manage resource planning, workload balancing, and capacity to meet business demand.
  • Support strategic initiatives including new product introductions, cost reduction efforts, and market expansion.
  • Act as a key technical escalation point for complex or high-risk opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical equipment or power distribution industry.
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Experience with engineered-to-order (ETO) environments and technical quotation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and organizational change.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
