This is an opportunity for an experienced power plant operations manager to make a direct impact on plant safety, equipment reliability, operational performance, thermo-mechanical treatment processes, and team development. The role combines hands-on technical problem-solving with people leadership, continuous improvement, emergency preparedness, procedure oversight, auditing, and technical training-offering broad responsibility and the opportunity to strengthen both plant performance and operational capability.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of supervisory or managerial experience in a power-generating or industrial environment, along with experience in thermo-mechanical treatment and hands-on knowledge of high-pressure boilers, turbines, generators, outages, rotating equipment, electrical generation equipment, conveyors, cranes, and hoppers. A B.S. in Engineering is preferred, although relevant plant operations leadership experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. ASME and QRO/CFO certification are preferred, and required certifications must be obtained within six months of employment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with some evenings, weekends, off-hours, and on-call assignments as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver strong environmental, health, and safety leadership to support zero-accident performance and full compliance with all permit requirements.
  • Provide effective leadership, coaching, and direction to operations personnel to achieve operational and business objectives.
  • Guide and oversee boiler, turbine, and thermo-mechanical treatment operations to maintain maximum efficiency, reliability, and process consistency.
  • Coordinate daily operational activities across departments to ensure smooth and efficient execution of all work.
  • Monitor thermo-mechanical treatment processes and related equipment, troubleshoot operational issues, and support improvements in safety, quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct and supervise operational studies to improve plant equipment and processes; revise plant manuals and procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure full compliance with operational procedures through regular auditing and performance review.
  • Maintain plant readiness for abnormal or emergency situations and ensure safe, reliable daily operation.
  • Inspect boilers, thermo-mechanical treatment equipment, and plant machinery to meet performance targets.
  • Manage existing technical training programs and develop new training initiatives.
  • Prepare, oversee, and present technical reports as required by leadership.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all operational areas to support a safe, efficient plant environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of supervisory or managerial experience in an industrial or power-generating environment.
  • Experience with thermo-mechanical treatment (TTF) operations, or solid waste processing, equipment, and operational controls.
  • B.S. in Engineering preferred; supervisory or managerial plant operations experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands-on experience in power plant operations, high-pressure boilers, or related industrial systems, with a strong understanding of power plant processes.
  • Experience with materials-handling systems such as conveyors, cranes, and hoppers.
  • ASME and QRO/CFO certification preferred; candidates must be able to obtain any required certifications within six months of employment.
  • Experience in a specialty chemical facility, coal-fired power plant, or environment with significant material handling is strongly preferred.
  • Maintenance experience with outages and rotating or electrical generation equipment, including turbines and generators.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of thermo-mechanical treatment principles, process monitoring, and equipment performance.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and control systems, air compressors, condensate pumps, and cooling water systems.
  • Knowledge of solid-fuel combustion and materials-handling processes.
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies and safety and incident management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to support off-hours and on-call assignments as required.
