Job description

The Head of Risk - Personal Loans is a senior management-level position responsible for setting the strategic direction for credit policies in alignment with Citi's corporate goals. The individual will lead credit and underwriting strategies for Personal Loans line of business, with the goal of optimally balancing risk-return and customer engagement while ensuring strategies operate under Citi's risk appetite. The individual will champion and lead enterprise initiatives that build a resilient Personal loans portfolio and drive sustainable growth. The individual will be responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team.
Responsibilities:
  • Set the long-term vision and agenda for credit strategies for Personal Loans
  • Manage risk levels consistent with program's financial goals and Citi's risk appetite.
  • Lead a best-in-class Risk team responsible for driving sustainable growth for business
  • Partner with modeling team on new tools, machine learning and alternate data
  • Partner with Operations leadership team to ensure best customer experience while maintaining the robust risk management principles
  • Ensure a consistent and strong control environment across Risk, product, and functional partners to manage operational risk, ensuring oversight of all strategic deliverables
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve business performance, effectiveness and efficiency through process improvements and talent management

Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of relevant risk management or financial services experience required
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Possesses a complex mix of skills and leadership attributes including in-depth knowledge and experience of Loans and Cards P&L, sophisticated analytical abilities including the know-how to lead statistically advanced analyses, interface with the modeling teams on techniques such as machine learning or logistic regression
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing an analytical team - must have experience in delivering large-scale credit policy changes and communicating them to a diverse audience
  • Experience in managing and negotiating with stakeholders to further a common agenda in a matrix environment
  • Strong knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations and the current environment which govern credit card and lending policies and practices
  • Demonstrated success in managing risk policy/strategy through the economic cycle and/or in various environments; protecting and growing the business as it enters and exits economic stress
  • Ability to prioritize and project manage in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • A penchant for driving execution and analytical excellence through personal examples and ability to effectively engage and inspire the team

  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA/MS preferred; Education includes demonstrated knowledge in an analytic field including engineering, mathematics, statistics
