Director of PharmacySan Antonio, TXJob Summary:

The Director of Pharmacy plans, organizes, and supervises activities in the hospital pharmacy in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and legal requirements. This role involves setting quality improvement goals, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and enhancing patient satisfaction. The Director provides leadership in program development, staff management, and consultation while promoting teamwork and collaboration among staff, physicians, and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Establish quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals
  • Supervise drug information dissemination and in-service education for hospital personnel
  • Assist staff pharmacists in routine duties as necessary
  • Provide professional and technical guidance to pharmacy personnel
  • Lead new program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Anticipate and address customer/supplier needs to ensure effective departmental operations
  • Promote teamwork among staff, peers, physicians, and stakeholders
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Five (5) years of hospital leadership experience in an acute care setting or completion of PGY2 leadership residency
  • Proficient in legal responsibilities of pharmacists, state and federal laws, and regulations governing pharmacy services
  • Knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics, and new medications/technology
  • Current Pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy
  • Current Consultant Pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy (if applicable, e.g., Florida)
  • Controlled Substance License in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy (if applicable)
