This role is responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring a multidisciplinary nursing leadership team, including Associate Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Educators, and Infection Prevention/Wound Care staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and a commitment to high‑quality, resident‑centered care.

Job Description
  • Promotes clinical care that meets professional standards of practice with an emphasis on person‑centered philosophy.
  • Collaborate with other staff to maintain financially sound operations within the approved budget.
  • Assists in the creation of support systems that enable staff and empower team members to jointly plan and deliver care. Role models collaboration and partnership with physicians, medical team, primary staff, residents, families and all departments.
  • Conducts and documents employee performance per facility policy.
  • Delegates work so team members have the necessary direction, authority, and skills to complete assignments.
  • Comply with applicable organizational policies and procedures i.e.: mandatory education, health and Human Resources requirements.
  • Reviews all assigned quality reports/activities that affect quality of care and quality of life for residents.
  • Identifies gaps in existing work processes and participates in resolution.
  • Make sure the annual development and implementation of the QAPI plan addresses all aspects of clinical objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding quality metrics and is able to use data to improve performance.
  • Analyzes and evaluates Nursing Services to improve the quality of resident/patient care.
  • Evaluates nursing care and the climate in which it is practiced identifying achievements and improvements.
  • Participates in applicable research; promotes utilization of findings.
  • Demonstrates a commitment of quality through participation on improvement teams and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Works to improve performance relative to the organization’s goals.
  • Keeps current in trends and research in Nursing service.
  • Conducts investigations of resident, family and employee concerns, such as but not limited to unusual occurrence reports, employee injury reports, resident concern or one‑on‑one meetings.
  • Assists in identifying root causes and recommends corrective action plan.
  • Prepares necessary and/or required reports according to department guidelines.
  • Must be able to act in the best interest of residents, staff, visitors, employees when a critical event occurs. Must remain calm and anticipate needs while implementing the emergency management plan.
  • Plans and conducts routine meetings with administrative and professional nursing staff to encourage participation in formulating departmental policies.
  • Promotes initiative, problem solving, and interprets new directives and procedures.
  • Assures, in conjunction with the Scheduling office, that there is equitable and adequate scheduling and staffing of Nursing personnel.
  • Provides for the leadership, mentoring, evaluation and education of Nurse Managers, Clinical Coordinators, Senior Nurse Leaders, and other Nursing professionals.
  • Establishes goals & objectives for the department of Nursing and the organizational structure for achieving these goals and objectives.
  • Assures collaboration and promotes an interdisciplinary approach to resident care.
  • Coordinates activities of nursing units; promotes and maintains professional relationships among nursing personnel, medical staff, residents and family members.
  • Participates in community networking with other LTC organizations.
Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree M.S. Preferred) licensed registered nurse with minimum of 5 years of recent progressive leadership experience, program development & implementation.

Working knowledge of QAPI or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Some experience in Long‑term Care & Post‑Acute Care.

Familiar with federal and state of New York State regulations.
