Key responsibilities

  • Own full accountability for the Tallapoosa facility's safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people management.

Job description

Overview & Position Summary

TydenBrooks is a global leader in security seals and tamper-evident solutions with 150+ years of manufacturing expertise, currently undergoing a generational pivot into digital and IoT products. The VP of Operations owns full accountability for plant performance at the Tallapoosa, GA facility — building a standardized, metrics-driven manufacturing system across 24/7 operations spanning Production, EHS, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Logistics. This leader will establish the management system, define the operating rhythm, own the KPI scorecard, and drive measurable SQDC improvement.

Core Accountabilities

Operational Leadership & Plant Management

Own full accountability for the Tallapoosa facility — safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people

Establish and sustain a standardized daily management system (DMS) with a defined operating rhythm: shift start-ups, daily tier meetings, weekly reviews, and monthly business reviews

Lead, develop, and hire Supervisors, Line Leads, and the Front-Line operations team

Cross-train the workforce to increase flexibility and coverage across all production areas

Complete performance and development reviews for all direct reports

KPI Ownership & Scorecard Management

Own the facility KPI scorecard across the SQDC framework. Define targets, assign ownership, and drive accountability at every tier through Gemba-based visual management and cascading metrics.

  1. Launch Production Status Boards at each line; manage daily, weekly, and monthly review cadences
  2. Lead Gemba-based visual management at every value stream — boards are live, accurate, and acted upon
  3. Ensure metrics cascade from plant-level goals to individual line and operator accountability

Manufacturing System Standardization

  1. Design and implement a standardized plant operating model: standard work, visual controls, tiered management, and structured problem-solving at every level
  2. Lead VSM across all production areas to identify waste and define the future-state model; establish LPA (Layered Process Audits) to verify standard work compliance
  3. Drive 3S/5S as the non-negotiable foundation; lead scheduling, material flow, and inventory management to achieve daily targets with minimal variation

Continuous Improvement & Lean Execution

  1. Champion an 80/20 CI culture; facilitate Kaizen, root cause analysis, and corrective actions; mentor Supervisors and Line Leads to build internal CI capability
  2. Drive Lean tools (VSM, 3S, standard work, TPM, flow) as embedded practices — not events; partner with Engineering on manufacturability and automation roadmap execution
  3. Mentor Supervisors and Line Leads to become capable problem-solvers; build internal CI capability over time
  4. Partner with Process & Automation Engineering on manufacturability improvements and automation roadmap execution

Quality, Compliance & Financial Oversight

  1. Maintain ISO 9001 / ISO 17712 QMS and CTPAT validation; drive First Pass Yield improvement, customer PPM reduction, and timely, permanently closed corrective actions

Lead Digital & IoT product integration into full production, including PFMEA, control plans, and capacity planning; manage operating and capital budgets; develop CAPEX business cases

Digital Product Integration

  1. Lead the operational integration of new Digital products into full production at Tallapoosa, GA
  2. Partner with Engineering to establish production readiness standards for new product launches, including PFMEA, control plans, and capacity planning

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  1. Assist in the development of the annual strategic plan; monitor and manage operational budgets
  2. Define and manage annual operating and capital budgets; develop CAPEX business cases as needed
  3. Communicate Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives in a way that inspires ownership and accountability at all levels

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree — Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Business
  • 10+ years Operations Management in complex manufacturing
  • Led teams of 100+ in 24/7 continuous operations
  • One full Lean transformation — early-stage through sustained deployment
  • Injection molding, metal stamping, and/or automation experience required
  • Deep Lean fluency: VSM, 5S, standard work, TPM, flow, pull, LPA
  • Builds and sustains KPI scorecards — drives action, not just reporting
  • Structured problem-solving: 8D, A3, or equivalent RCA methodology
  • ISO 9001 / ISO 17712 quality systems knowledge
  • High analytical aptitude; strong written, verbal, and exec presentation skills
