Position Description
Position Summary
The Director of Manufacturing oversees management of all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct workflow processes so that products and projects are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and within cost objectives by utilizing lean manufacturing strategies, policies, and procedures to improve operational performance metrics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the Manufacturing Team
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate manufacturing leadership staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
  • Develop and update manufacturing policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and manufacturing systems optimization

Lead and control all aspects of manufacturing and logistics in multiple piping, sheet metal, and plumbing facilities
  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with company objectives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency
  • Establish enterprise-level manufacturing plan and schedule and monitor performance against plan
  • Develop key performance metrics to monitor and improve productivity and quality
  • Oversee continuous improvement initiatives
  • Direct repair and preventative maintenance functions to maintain operational equipment efficiencies
  • Hire, train, and develop manufacturing and logistics staff
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements across all manufacturing activities

Develop cross-functional collaboration
  • Partner with Supply Chain to align material requirements planning and material availability with production schedules
  • Own utilization and optimization of the manufacturing MRP system, ensuring accurate data, effective adoption across facilities, and alignment with production planning needs
  • Collaborate with Design/VDC, Estimating, Project Management, and Sales to ensure manufacturing readiness and schedule alignment across departments

Manage budget and financial performance of the Manufacturing Department
  • Develop annual budget for the Manufacturing Department, including capital expenditure budget
  • Monitor performance against budget and make changes as necessary
  • Create a process to forecast resource utilization and identify constraints and inefficiencies
  • Develop and monitor budget for direct ship products, including Olney by Tweet Garot, and other custom Tweet Garot products

Develop the Manufacturing Quality Program
  • Partner with the Quality Manager to reinforce and execute quality standards and procedures across facilities
  • Ensure manufacturing teams adhere to established quality standards and escalate issues impacting production schedules or equipment
  • Support quality certification initiatives as needed

Position Requirements
Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • 7+ years of Manufacturing experience, preferrable custom fabrication
  • MRP system ownership and utilization, including experience driving adoption, data integrity, and production-planning alignment across multiple facilities
  • Manufacturing management
  • Project management
  • Lean leadership, Lean concepts, Lean tools, and Lean planning
  • Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Problem solving and analytical analysis
  • Communication and presentation skills
