We’re seeking a compassionate and results-driven Director of Admissions to join our dedicated team at Journey.

The Director of Admissions will oversee the admissions process for our long-term care facility, ensuring prospective residents and their families receive exceptional service, support, and communication throughout the process. Responsibilities include managing inquiries and referrals, conducting facility tours, coordinating assessments, securing authorizations, and collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to help ensure smooth admissions.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of long-term care, and a passion for helping residents and families through an important transition. Previous experience in healthcare admissions is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience and demonstrated success in a facility or related healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage and the authorization process related to long-term care is helpful.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, referral sources, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills and ability to review financial and admissions-related information.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Referral Management and Admissions Coordination
    • Manage referral status and help ensure timely and accurate admissions processing.
    • Communicate with external partners, families, and healthcare providers regarding referral updates.
    • Assist with prior authorizations and financial evaluations for prospective residents.
    • Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to support a smooth admissions process.
  • Administrative and Record-Keeping Responsibilities
    • Maintain accurate records of admissions, pay status changes, and daily census updates.
    • Complete and file admission paperwork according to facility policies.
    • Utilize electronic medical records and relevant tools for data management.
  • Collaboration and Customer Service
    • Build positive relationships with interdisciplinary teams, residents, families, and referral partners.
    • Provide facility tours, respond to inquiries, and address admission-related questions or concerns.
    • Promote teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement in the admissions process.
