Job description

The Web Developer is part of a team that is responsible for implementing cutting-edge Websites and Web-based applications. The candidate must have strong technical and communication skills with the ability to coordinate and consult with non-technical, business line personnel.

The Web Developer manages all aspects of the Society’s Web presence and online collaboration tools in close consultation with the Marketing Director. The candidate shall be capable of understanding and assessing current systems, evaluating potential new technologies, and extending the system for new functions. This means working closely with SIIM staff and SIIM committees to develop plans for future developments, enhancements, and implementations.

In this role, the Web Developer manages all aspects of the association’s website, including technical infrastructure, upkeep, and troubleshooting; tests, implements and maintains the web-based application tools for the association’s website; and monitors industry standards and techniques to recommend changes to ensure effective use of the website to achieve the association’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Marketing Director and staff to support and implement the SIIM marketing vision, plan, and initiatives for all electronic communications
  • Create SIIM event microsites and other websites as needed
  • Manage and maintain the SIIM.org website, with particular attention paid to adding/removing appropriate content as events approach or pass.
  • Maintain the SIIM brand across all web/email platforms
  • Make sure branding reflects what you need throughout different properties of
  • Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues
  • Support the Marketing Director in sending out marketing emails via Informz
  • Participate in project development activities for various Internet publishing projects
  • Propose enhancements and improvements to define and justify the most effective software and hardware to support the website
  • Analyzes Web metrics to provide further optimization opportunities
  • Understand the benefits of various open-source or proprietary web application tools
  • Customize existing mobile app templates for SIIM events; maintain event mobile app

Requirements:

  • College degree preferred, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • Three years of progressive Web Developer experience
  • Combination of experience can substitute for a college degree
  • Experience with WordPress CMS
  • Knowledge of multiple coding languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, C#,
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager and SEO best practices
  • Must be organized, task-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Occasional travel and some long hours/weekend work during conferences

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of and experience with CMS, AMS, and other Web tools
  • Good understanding of Responsive Design, Bootstrap, WordPress, SQL, and other web development technologies
  • Ability to devise, implement, and support rich media, engagement tools, and mobile apps
