Job Summary

The Director of Clinical Informatics & Health IT will serve as the strategic and operational leader for Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS) healthcare technology infrastructure, data analytics, and clinical reporting systems. This pivotal role bridges the gap between clinical operations and information technology. The Director will be responsible for developing, standardizing, and strengthening GBMS's existing health IT infrastructure, data governance, and analytics workflows to successfully position the organization for future growth. The Director will have enterprise-wide responsibility for managing and optimizing eClinicalWorks (eCW), leading data analytics workflows via Azara, and overseeing all health information technology (HIT) initiatives. A chief priority is turning raw clinical data into actionable dashboards, managing complex payer and federal reporting (including UDS), and developing continuous training programs for providers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Infrastructure Strengthening & Team Management

  • Systems Optimization: Evaluate, refine, and scale the clinical informatics and health IT function across the organization, transitioning existing processes into a highly integrated, mature data ecosystem.
  • Team Leadership: Directly manage, mentor, and establish performance standards for the Clinical Applications team, including the EHR Manager and EHR Analyst.
  • Workflow Alignment: Streamline team responsibilities, ticketing workflows, and project pipelines for the EHR support staff to ensure rapid, high-quality technical resolution for clinics.

Health IT Optimization & eCW Management

  • HIT Strategic Alignment: Advance the overall health information technology strategy, strengthening technical frameworks to align with organizational growth and regulatory compliance.
  • eClinicalWorks (eCW) System Ownership: Serve as the primary architect and administrator for eCW. Optimize and standardize system configurations, module implementations, upgrades, and template customization to reduce provider charting fatigue.
  • Vendor Management: Act as the primary, authoritative liaison with eCW, Azara, health information exchanges (HIEs), and external IT infrastructure consultants.

Clinical Data Analytics, Dashboards & Reporting

  • Azara DRVS Optimization: Deepen the strategic utilization of Azara, embedding it further into the organizational culture for population health management, risk stratification, and quality improvement.
  • Federal & Regulatory Reporting: Strengthen the core infrastructure, timelines, and validation protocols for the compilation and submission of the annual HRSA Uniform Data System (UDS) report to ensure absolute data integrity.
  • MCO & Payer Reporting: Refine structured, repeatable workflows to pull, analyze, and submit clinical quality data for Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and value-based care contracts to maximize incentive revenue.
  • Dashboard Evolution: Work collaboratively across clinical, operational, and financial departments to enhance, build, and launch automated dashboards and data visualizations (e.g., tracking HEDIS measures and operational KPIs).

Training Framework & Data Governance

  • Training Program Development: Standardize and deploy a comprehensive, ongoing EHR training curriculum, onboarding program, and quick-reference resource library for all clinicians and medical staff.
  • Data Integrity Standards: Strengthen and enforce GBMS's data governance policies to ensure standardized, accurate, and consistent documentation habits across all service sites.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Information Technology, Computer Science, Nursing (with an Informatics focus), or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • FQHC Experience Highly Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing clinical informatics, data analytics, or HIT systems, ideally within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment.
  • EHR & Analytics Mastery: Extensive, hands-on experience configuring and administering eClinicalWorks (eCW) and pulling data via Azara (or highly similar FQHC population health tools).
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience directly managing technical staff (such as EHR analysts, administrators, or application managers) with a track record of optimizing team performance.

Core Competencies

  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrated success in strengthening clinical data programs, dashboards, or IT support workflows to prepare an organization for operational scaling.
  • Regulatory Literacy: Deep understanding of HRSA UDS reporting requirements, HEDIS measures, and Medicaid/Medicare MCO quality incentive structures.
  • Learning & Facilitation: Exceptional teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical software workflows to non-technical clinical staff and providers.
