Organization Summary:

Each year, Federation engages thousands of donors and volunteers to generate tens of millions of dollars in philanthropic support, sustaining a network that delivers critical services, builds community, and responds to urgent challenges. Position Summary :
The Senior Director of Creative Services & Content is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for bringing the Federation's brand to life by shaping and executing the organization's visual identity, storytelling, and content strategy. This role oversees the development and quality of compelling, mission-aligned creative and content across all channels including digital, print, social, events, and fundraising campaigns to drive engagement, brand consistency, and organizational impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Creative & Content Strategy
  • Define Federation's core story by developing clear, compelling content that explains our mission, impact, and urgency.
  • Shape brand identity by setting and protecting the organization's voice, look, and visual standards across all creative work.
  • Drive creative direction by shaping the concepts for major campaigns and guiding the visual work to ensure strong, consistent execution across organizational priorities.
  • Develop a multi-channel content strategy across print, digital, email, social media, and web platforms, aligned with organizational goals and audience needs.
  • Partner with the CMO to build the core messaging strategy, stories, and cases for support that guide how we talk to key audiences and support fundraising and strategic goals.
  • Plan the content strategy by mapping out what stories we tell and when we tell them using a content calendar and long-range storytelling strategy.to guide the work.
  • Oversee the workflow for creating print materials, ensuring ads, brochures, publications, and PR pieces are written, edited, designed, and produced correctly and on time.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Digital & Database Marketing to ensure the digital landscape reflects the same brand, messaging, and story direction as our print materials.
  • Use data to refine content by reviewing performance and adjusting creative, content and channel approaches.

Creative Production & Execution
  • Oversee all creative production by managing design, copywriting, photography, video storytelling, and print production to ensure every asset is high-quality and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure on-time, on-brand delivery by working closely with the team to keep projects moving, maintain brand standards, and meet deadlines across channels.
  • Set and enforce editorial and production standards by establishing clear workflows, quality benchmarks, and performance metrics that support timely, and accurate deliverables.
  • Implement best practices in content creation by guiding the team in strong creative development, video and photo production, and graphic/print design.
  • Maintain brand consistency by working collaboratively across the organization to ensure all creative assets adhere to identity, voice, and visual standards.

Fundraising & Campaign Support
  • Set the creative vision for fundraising by defining the ideas, themes, and visual direction that guide campaigns, events, and donor communications.
  • Create fundraising materials by producing appeals, presentations, reports, and event pieces that clearly explain the need and inspire donors to give.
  • Strengthen donor engagement through storytelling by ensuring all narratives highlight mission, impact, and urgency in ways that deepen connection and support revenue growth.
  • Support leadership communications, including speeches, remarks, and talking points, that advance organizational priorities and reinforce key fundraising messages.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team by providing clear direction, coaching, and support to designers, writers, and content creators so they can do their best work.
  • Build team capabilities by strengthening skills in storytelling, digital content, video and photo production, and emerging creative formats.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture by encouraging open communication, shared problem-solving, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage external partners by selecting, guiding, and evaluating consultants, freelancers, and creative vendors to expand capacity and ensure high-quality work.
  • Set expectations for AI adoption by directing team members to use approved tools and follow all brand, quality, and compliance guidelines.
  • Ensure team adherence to SOPs by requiring consistent use of defined workflows, review steps, quality control protocols and project-management standards across all deliverables.

Performance & Innovation
  • Establish clear performance metrics to evaluate efficacy of content, creative assets, and campaigns using measurable indicators to track quality, engagement, and impact.
  • Use data and insights to improve strategy by analyzing performance, pinpoint successful approaches, and refine creative and content for stronger results.
  • Stay current on industry trends by monitoring new tools, technologies, and formats and introducing innovative ideas that improve storytelling and audience engagement.

Qualifications and Success Factors :
  • 10+ years of experience in creative services, content strategy, or brand leadership
  • Proven team leadership with a track record of managing multidisciplinary creative teams and high-volume production environments.
  • Strong creative portfolio demonstrating excellence in storytelling, design and multi-channel campaign execution.
  • Strategic content and brand expertise with experience aligning creative strategy to organizational, audience, and revenue goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Operational and project management strength including workflow processes, project prioritization, and quality control across multiple channels.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and comfort guiding responsible, brand-aligned use within creative workflows.
  • CRM and marketing automation familiarity including experience with CRM systems. Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics Customer Insights Journeys a plus.
  • Experience in donor-centric storytelling and familiarity with fundraising, stewardship, and development operations.
  • Strategic and systems thinking with the ability to connect creative work to organizational priorities and audience needs.
  • Collaborative leadership with strong relationship-building skills across departments, teams, and external partners.
  • Talent development with experience coaching and growing designers, writers, and content creators.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information, leadership communications, and donor-facing content.
  • Data-informed decision-making with the ability to interpret performance metrics and optimize creative strategy.
  • High attention to detail ensuring accuracy, brand consistency, and quality across all deliverables.

Education and Industry Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field required. (Master's degree preferred).
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community and experience working with philanthropic or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
