Director of Commissary Operations

Position Summary:

Operationally lead 40-60 commissary accounts across a broad geographic region. Actively manage the internal relationships with respective commissary warehouse leadership to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders on a consistent basis. Actively manage external performance-based client relationships through effective proactive and regular communication and problem resolution. Cooperate and collaborate with the Food team within the geographic region to effectively service those accounts that have both Commissary and Food services. Work with BDDs and Food operations team to foster an environment that supports both short and long-term growth expectations. Reports to the Vice President of Commissary.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Active contract management including a 40-60 account portfolio in CRMS (Tegara)
  • Updating current product offerings with appropriate pricing
  • Responding to operational issues as they arise
  • Coordinating with warehouse personnel for efficient delivery of weekly commissary orders
  • Regularly and effectively communicating with clients to ensure top performance
  • Regularly visiting with large clients and on-site commissary personnel
  • Updating clients on newest Summit offerings in Product/Service/Technology as they become available
  • Participating in new account pursuits including demonstrations, RFP review/questions, proforma development and sales presentations
  • Like participation for re-bid accounts
  • Actively mine Commissary accounts for new Food opportunities
  • Effectively communicate challenges and opportunities for assigned region to the VP of Commissary
  • Effectively coordinate & communicate with support staff functions (Finance/HR/Accounting/IT)
  • Effectively coordinate & coordinate with third-party technology partners

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred or combination of education and experience
  • 5-7 years' experience in commissary operations with 3 years in a lead or management role. Experience working in a correctional facility preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and guide teams
  • Previous experience with inventory, purchasing, cost control and P&L preferred
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications required

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and days.
