Job description

What You'll Do:
This position works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of policies and procedures governing commissary sales and services and institution security practices
• Plans, directs and coordinates commissary operations for the institution
• Orders commissary items and maintains stock levels adequate for the inmate population
• Prices items in accordance with audit requirements
• Supervises and trains employees and inmate workers in commissary operations
• Reviews, approves and/or disapproves requests for leave and overtime Prepares and completes performance evaluations
• Controls inmate expenditures
• Schedules days and times for inmate commissary visits
• Conducts shortage control measures
• Monitors daily transactions and resolves problems or complaints
• Monitors inmate accounts
• Prepares and submits required reports (e.g., sales reports, inventory reports, loss reports, etc.)
• Controls security
• Maintains safety and sanitary conditions in the commissary
• Sits on institution committees
• Responds to inmate grievances

Qualifications
24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in retail sales to include purchasing, inventory control, bookkeeping/record-keeping & operating cash register or adding machine; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles & techniques or in training & monitoring work activities of others.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
