Lead the Engineering Operations of a Premier Oceanfront Resort

Ocean Place Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced and driven Chief Engineer to oversee all aspects of our engineering and facilities operations. This leadership role is responsible for protecting and enhancing the hotel's physical assets while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and exceptional experience for our guests and team members.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive knowledge of hotel building systems, preventive maintenance programs, capital planning, and team development. If you thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment and have a passion for operational excellence, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll DoEngineering & Facilities Leadership
  • Lead and manage all engineering operations for the resort.

  • Oversee maintenance and operation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, water treatment, and life safety systems.

  • Ensure all building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to protect hotel assets and minimize downtime.

  • Conduct routine inspections and identify opportunities for repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements.

Financial & Operational Management
  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets.

  • Control expenses and maximize operational efficiencies.

  • Participate in capital planning, renovation projects, and vendor management.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop engineering team members.

  • Create staff schedules and manage payroll processes.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support.

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Guest & Safety Focus
  • Support exceptional guest experiences through prompt resolution of maintenance-related concerns.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, Lockout/Tag-out procedures, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling standards.

  • Respond to emergencies and provide leadership during critical incidents.

QualificationsRequired Experience & Education
  • Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical education, trade school training, certifications, and relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive engineering leadership experience in hospitality, resorts, hotels, or a comparable industry.

  • Valid certifications and licenses required by state and federal regulations, including HVAC certifications where applicable.

  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems, energy management systems, and preventive maintenance software.

Preferred Skills
  • Proven experience managing departmental budgets and capital projects.

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to train and mentor a diverse workforce.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier loads when needed.

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and service ramps.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and walking throughout the property.

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions and respond to emergency situations as required.
