Job Summary

The Manager - Facilities is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Facility Services department, with direct oversight of General Maintenance, Manufacturing Support, Metrology, and Facility Resource Planning. This role ensures facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained in a state of control and consistently meet cGMP and regulatory compliance standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations within the entire Facility Services group
  • Provide direct oversight to the General Maintenance, Manufacturing Support, Metrology, and Facility Resource Planning groups
  • Ensure facility and infrastructure systems are maintained in accordance with best industry practices
  • Accountable for all Quality Systems within the Facilities department, including Deviations, CAPAs, SOP revisions (routine and biennial), and Change Control
  • Provide oversight of operational activities to promote a safe work environment and ensure adherence to all applicable safety policies and regulations
  • Final approver for all departmental documentation within SAP
  • Plan departmental goals and objectives
  • Assign Facilities resources to projects and initiatives
  • Responsible for the management of the departmental budgets
  • Lead cross-functional teams to plan and execute scheduled manufacturing shutdowns for preventive maintenance
  • Serve as the primary departmental point of contact during internal and external audit
  • Support various site capital initiatives by serving as the Subject Matter Expert for Plant Equipment and Systems
  • Promote professional development of staff through on-site and off-site coaching, mentoring, and training

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a biopharmaceutical environment with significant years of experience in a leadership role
  • Employment history reflecting continuous growth in scope, leadership, and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • A working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance technology (vibration, infrared, and ultrasonic analysis, etc.)
  • The ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, and inspectors
  • Experience with budget preparation and scheduling
  • Prior cGMP experience is required
  • Prior experience with SAP preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Project management skills are essential
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and coordinate workload by priority
  • Must be customer service and quality driven
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of facility systems and maintenance functions, including HVAC/refrigeration, boiler operations and steam distribution, electrical systems, painting, carpentry, plumbing/pipefitting, general mechanical troubleshooting and repair, critical utilities, and campus grounds maintenance
