Job description

Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. Operating with a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset, we strive for continuous improvement across our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. This position is located at the Animal Health facility in Millsboro, DE—a Biotechnology Center of Excellence that manufactures, fills, packages, and distributes vaccines for animals. The site is accountable for diverse production methods, including mammalian, insect, and avian cell culture, live bird and embryonated egg production, bioreactor processing, and down-stream processing such as water-in-oil emulsions, aseptic filling, and lyophilization. Working under department supervision, the ideal candidate will strictly follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while adhering to all safety and company policies.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by cleaning work areas (floors, walls, tables) and demonstrating safe work habits in compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment, and assist with general equipment setup and operation.
  • Assist with aseptic procedures, including product formulation, fill equipment setup/operations, and environmental monitoring.
  • Perform manufacturing tasks including the formulation, filling, labeling, capping, packaging, and visual inspection of veterinary vaccines.
  • Execute concurrent record keeping by accurately maintaining charts, logbooks, and all pertinent production documentation.
  • Handle non-aseptic procedures when required, including the handling of poultry during tissue or waste harvesting processes.
  • Assist in reviewing production records, entering technical data into required systems, and collaborating on the development of SOPs.
  • Report all unusual or non-routine occurrences, assist in monitoring/requisitioning lab supplies, and help train new team members.
  • Attend required training classes, workshops, and meetings to continuously improve job skills and product-related procedures.
  • Manage the accumulation, labeling, and handling of hazardous wastes within the area (contingent on proper training prior to assignment).


Education

  • High School diploma/GED with industry-related laboratory experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with industry or academic laboratory experience.


Experience

  • Required: 1+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Required: Proven ability to read, write, comprehend, and effectively convey information to colleagues at various levels.
  • Required: Competency in performing basic mathematical calculations and conversions.
  • Core Competencies: Ability to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks within an established timeframe, recognize problems, and utilize existing procedures to assess solutions.
  • Preferred: A background in biology or chemistry education, general laboratory experience, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Preferred: Prior experience with aseptic cleanroom behaviors.


Additional Information

  • Physical Requirements: Must possess the ability to work standing for long periods of time.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet manufacturing demands, including overtime, holidays, and weekends. Days and hours are subject to change based on business needs.
  • Shift Rotations: Shift hours will rotate throughout the month as needed. On average, workers must be flexible enough to work 2 different adjacent shifts each week from the following schedule:
  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • 4th Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
