SCOPE OF POSITION:

Determines controls and measurements for inventory accuracy.  Coordinates with other departments to set transaction policies and reports.  Coordinates all inventory transactions and activities.  Develops and monitors cycle counting activities.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes procedures and measurements for inventory control and cycle counting activities.
  • Coordinates inventory control and cycle counting activities with personnel from various departments and tracks progress.
  • Conducts training related to inventory control and cycle counting for personnel from various departments.
  • Responsible for all written documentation concerning inventory control and cycle counting procedures and policies.
  • Analyzes all inventory adjustments, transfers, scrap, returns of material, and pull sheets for accuracy and possible anomalies.
  • Analyzes additional material requests for shop orders, to determine reason for request and takes appropriate steps to correct any anomalies within our systems.
  • Analyzes and evaluates lot-controlled inventory (adhesives, tapes, etc.), slow moving or custom inventory, excessive inventory, and items with no value associated with them for disposition and corrective actions.
  • Analyzes stock outs and assists the Purchasing Department in establishing appropriate stocking levels if necessary.
  • Audits all personnel related to inventory control and cycle counting for adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Audits manufacturing floor for excess material and analyzes possible reasons for the excess.  Takes appropriate steps to correct any anomalies within our systems.
  • Research missing material instances and investigate root cause or error and take corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Keeps Management, Supervisors, and Sr. Operators updated on anomalies within departments concerning inventory control and cycle counting procedures and policies.
  • Organizes data concerning inventory control and cycle counting into various daily/weekly/monthly reports, noting audit findings, trends, accuracies and anomalies.
  • Monitors and audits C/S inventory at outside warehouses and vendor locations and makes appropriate transactions to ensure reliability.
  • Leads and assists with special projects concerning inventory control and cycle counting, such as barcoding and scanning, development of computer related programming and reports, etc., coordinating such programs with other SBUs.
  • On the rare occasion that a physical inventory is to be conducted, coordinates all related activities with Accounting and plant personnel.
  • Collaborates with the Accounting Department to ensure that inventory control procedures and policies conform to Accounting procedures and policies for inventory control.

  • Assists in maintaining compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good house-
  • keeping practices.  Maintains work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly fashion and directs coworkers to do the same.
  • Assists in maintaining basic production records and updates information systems as required.
  • Assists in maintaining conformance to budgetary limitations.
  • Praises employees for good performance and suggests corrections to ensure consistent production, quality standards, cost reduction, and increased efficiency.
  • Assists in training of work group.  Assists in identifying training needs and provides technical assistance and training when necessary.  Helps facilitate the group process both in meetings and in daily operations.  Provides feedback and coaching for group.  Assists in developing individual group members and the entire group in group process, team dynamics, basic quality tools, and problem-solving models and techniques.
  • Assists in guiding the work group's problem-solving process toward continuous improvement of quality and productivity measures and expediently advises group of any organizational changes that may affect their processes.  Orients new members of group.  Helps to ensure that group goals are pertinent and clear to all.  Helps the group reach consensus of key issues.
  • Interfaces with other departments as necessary.  Builds rapport with other organizational units and individuals critical to the group's success.
  • Refers unusual conditions or nonroutine problems to immediate Manager.
  • Ensure that hazardous material and waste handling is conducted within the guidelines of the training provided.
  • Ensures conformance to all aspects of the ISO 14001 standard and Construction Specialties' Environmental Management System (EMS), including its environmental policy while performing job functions that may have a significant impact on the environment.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Associate degree in Business Management curriculum with emphasis on Inventory Control and one to three years' experience working in the inventory control field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of MRP, with BPCS and VPL operating systems preferred.
  • Computer skills in Word and Excel a must.
  • Must have a reasonable understanding of shop floor processes.
  • Will require training with respect to guidelines for hazardous material and waste handling within six (6) months of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.  Demonstrated ability to lead others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.   The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.   The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 25 to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
