Job description

Job Purpose/Summary

Core Functions:

  • Statewide Partnerships and Resource Development
  • Lead Grant Management including supporting the administration of more than $8 million in grants each year.
  • Direct Grant Research, Writing, Management, Reporting and Billing
  • Securing Grant funding based on programing and income priorities
  • State Office Affiliate and Board Relations
  • Evaluation and Outcomes
  • Statewide Grant Training and Technical Assistance
  • Collaborates with Affiliate leadership to direct program priorities and standards, aligning affiliates across the state with funding and educational trends, policy, and student/school needs.
  • Sets strategy along with Chief Development Officer and CEO to enhance program portfolio in line with funding opportunities that enhance and strengthen the mission of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Statewide Partnerships, Resource Development and Grant Management

  • Responsible for all activities related to grant funding for CIS of Nevada including research, development, writing/submission, post-award management and reporting.
  • Lead grant staff in the identification, writing, management and reporting of grant awards of $50,000+ for both State and Affiliates.
  • Oversees Private Grant Manager responsible for Private Grants Portfolio of >$50,000.
  • Oversees Public Funding Manager responsible for Public Funding Portfolio.
  • Ensures that all pertinent grant management data for secured grants is communicated to Affiliate Executive Directors and the State Office Finance Department.
  • Responsible for timely grant reporting including data collection, coordinating with key staff, and compilation and submission of reports to funders and the National Office.
  • Oversee the maintenance of grant files.
  • Works with State Leadership Team and Affiliate Executive Directors to identify and apply for appropriate grants to support each affiliate and the state office.
  • Provides regular grant status updates to the Affiliate Executive Directors, State Leadership and the State Board.
  • Engages relevant coalitions to develop strategic partnerships to further funding objectives and support the mission of Communities In Schools of Nevada.
  • Oversee the maintenance of comprehensive records for all grant opportunities, including grants identified for pursuit, submitted applications, and the outcomes of each application.
  • Collaborate with Development and Grants team to ensure the stewardship of current and potential funders.

Grant Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordination of grant applications for both State and Affiliates.
  • Retrieving data for grant reporting. Development and/or oversight of grant reporting.
  • Communicates all relevant grant management information for secured grants to Affiliate Executive Directors and the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Responsible for timely grant reporting including data collection, coordinating with key staff, and compilation and submission of reports to funders and the National Office.
  • Understands funding trends as they align to our services and ensures that grant narrative reflects most up-to-date research on the impact of Integrated Student Supports.
  • Oversee the fiscal management of public grants and develop systems and processes as necessary for affiliate teams to capture appropriate data in the methods required by grantors.

Public and Private Funding Program Strategy

  • Works with CEO, CFO and Affiliate Executive Directors to develop long term strategic objectives in line with mission and funding needs. Identify and apply for appropriate grants to support those objectives.
  • Identify and build buy-in on opportunities to operate with greater efficiency and achieve organizational goals. Specific responsibilities may include facilitation of cross team working groups, information synthesis, strategy implementation, and internal and external partnership building.
  • Will work with organization leadership, district, state and national partners to support and collaborate in program implementation and development in line with identifying and securing long term funding opportunities.
  • Develop relationships to support the growth and sustainability of grant funding.

State Office, Affiliate and Board Relations

  • Communicates regularly with State Board providing oversight to grant process. Responsive to requests from the Board regarding grant applications.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencie

Qualifications Include:

  • At least five years of grant experience preferred with track record of successful grant fundraising, including grant writing and management skills. Evidence of growth of grant funding opportunities in both award amount and complexity.
  • Superb organization, detail-orientation, and project management and execution skills
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with organizational budgeting, fundraising projections and successfully meeting revenue quotas.
  • Exceptional communication skills across varied groups including students, funders, board members, community partners and team members.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of successful change management.
  • Experience in the K-12 public education space.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office and classroom setting.
  • Use of own automobile
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, possible fingerprinting, and drug screen.
  • Travel required across the State and to and from school sites.
