Summary Statement

The Civil\r\nDivision, Administrative Law & Education Unit, seeks a Deputy Attorney\r\nGeneral to serve as Unit Head in the Kent County office. \r\nThis is a great opportunity to lead a dedicated team that supports\r\nthe Department of Education, the Department of Insurance, the Division of\r\nProfessional Regulation, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of\r\nJustice's Freedom of Information Act Office as well as most of the Title 24\r\nboards and commissions.\r\nIf selected, you will carry your own caseload and direct and\r\nmanage other Deputy Attorneys General and the Assistant Unit Head; cooperate\r\nwith other Unit Heads; carry out the direction and delegation of upper\r\nmanagement; and perform other managerial tasks as needed.\r\nThis position is Internal/In-House only. Essential Functions

The unit primarily to represent the following\r\nprofessional administrative boards of the State: Real Estate Commission,\r\nCouncil on Real Estate Appraisers, Board of Professional Land Surveyors, Board\r\nof Manufactured Home Installation, Delaware Board of Occupational Therapy\r\nPractice, Board of Chiropractic, Board of Accountancy, Board of Funeral\r\nServices, Board of Electrical Examiners, Board of Plumbing, Heating,\r\nVentilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Examiners, Commission on Adult\r\nEntertainment Establishments, Board of Charitable Gaming, Board of Examiners of\r\nNursing Home Administrators, Environmental Appeals Board, and Coastal Zone\r\nIndustrial Control Board. The work will include advising the boards on\r\napplicable legal standards, drafting and reviewing legislation and regulations,\r\nadvising on Delaware's Freedom of Information Act compliance, attending public\r\nmeetings, and handling representation of the boards in court and administrative\r\nprocedures including drafting orders of the board.\r\n

Job Requirements

Membership\r\nin Delaware Bar is required. The most qualified candidates have some\r\nadministrative law or board representation experience; however, such expertise\r\nand experiences are not required for selection. The DAG should be able to take\r\na proactive approach to assisting their agency clients, therefore a successful\r\ncandidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to identify\r\npotential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues to minimize\r\nor avoid future legal action. The DAG should be able to work\r\nindependently, meet deadlines, communicate clearly with client agencies, and\r\nshould have demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge of relevant\r\nlaws and court rules.\r\nThe DAG\r\nmust be available for some evenings meetings. Flex time will be\r\nallowed.\r\n
