The health services that became the Anthony L Jordan Health Corporation (Jordan Health) began more than 100 years ago, in 1904. As one of the first 5 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) established in the nation, its roots are steeped in service to those who face barriers to health and health care, meeting their need for comprehensive medical, dentistry, behavioral health, and community services. Starting in northeast Rochester, NY, Jordan Health has since expanded to become a network of primary care offices and health centers serving residents living in three quadrants of Rochester, NY and in Canandaigua, N.Y. 


Jordan Health is now seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist who, under the guidance of the Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer, is primarily responsible for updating and organizing protected patient related health information (PHI). To research and review data, in both hardcopy and electronic format, for accuracy and compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

The HIM Specialist will ensure that:

Jordan health maintains complete and accurate patient records in the Jordan Health electronic medical records system. 

Jordan Health clinical teams are empowered to provide appropriate patient care. 

Jordan Health is in full compliance with applicable federal and state privacy laws when responding to request for patient information. 

Jordan Health medical records team is responsive to patient request for assistance. 


Education And Experience Required:

High School diploma or GED/Enrolled in a Health Information Technology degree program or Medical Office Assistant Certification course and/or two of experience in an HIM/medical record department or healthcare office setting with Release of Information/Correspondence preferred

Or equivalent combination of education training and experience. 

RHIT/Medical Office Assisting Certification preferred


Licenses And Certifications Required:

RHIT/Medical Office Assisting Certification preferred


Special Skills, Knowledge Required: 

Proficient computer skills

Experience working in an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred. 

Familiar with HIPPA privacy rules

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations

Quality focus and deadline driven 

Team player
