The Manager of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily and multi-site operations of the HIM departments across assigned facilities. This role supports the Director by ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and optimal performance of HIM functions including release of information, record completion, coding coordination, document imaging, and data reporting.

The Manager serves as a key operational leader, driving standardization, staff development, and process improvement across all facilities.


Qualifications:

  • Registration as an RHIT or RHIA.

  • Minimum of two years technical and supervisory experience required.

  • Computer competency in Health Information Management applications.


Job Specifics:

  • Oversee daily HIM operations across all assigned facilities, ensuring consistency and efficiency

  • Must have the proven ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate daily work flow to ensure department needs are met

  • Must be flexible, dependable, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to change

  • Provides oversight, guidance and work flow of all Health Information Management staff in the main HIM area

  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for operations of assigned functional areas in the Director's absence

  • Identifies and implements changes regarding policy, productivity and quality measures, and assures that staff performance improvements related to work-flow efficiencies and operations.

  • In coordination with the Director of Health Information Management, recruits, interviews and makes recommendations to fill personnel vacancies

  • Coordinates staffing issues and procedural issues with Director of Heath Information Management

  • In coordination with the Director of Health Information Management, trains, provides feedback, evaluates and provides corrective action to staff as needed

  • Responds to inquiries of staff, vendors and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction, discussing and resolving any issues and/or problems

  • Verification and approval of time cards

  • Ordering supplies; paper, folders, dividers, and regular office supplies

  • Assist staffs with data collection

  • Interacts as a team member representing Health Information Management and attends meetings as directed.

  • Monitor and analyze HIM metrics (e.g., delinquent records, turnaround times, productivity)

  • Assist in audits, surveys, and regulatory reporting requirements


Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for College Medical Center roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that College Medical Center in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
