Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director, Global Development, Teach For All seeks a full-time Director, Global Development. This pivotal role will (1) manage a dedicated portfolio of donors across portfolios, (2) develop high-stakes communications for donors and prospects, and (3) ensure fundraisers are equipped with the resources and systems they need to execute against their strategy, directly contributing to the GD team's mandate of securing the necessary financial resources to advance Teach For All's mission. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual with strong critical thinking, project management, and communication skills to make a significant impact within a globally focused organization.

About the Team:

The Global Development team is responsible for inspiring a global community of supporters and ensuring Teach For All has the financial resources necessary to accomplish our theory of change. We work to catalyze a global constituency of champions who 1) provide financial support, 2) advocate, and 3) raise funds and visibility for the global organization as well as for network partners.

Responsibilities:

As Director, Global Development, your key responsibilities will include:

Portfolio Management and Donor Stewardship (50%)

  • Manage a dedicated portfolio of funders (across corporate, foundations and individuals), cultivating these partnerships and developing tailored engagement strategies in collaboration with program and organizational leadership.
    • Design and execute targeted monthly and quarterly engagement strategies that deepen relationships with existing donors and steadily grow their commitment.
    • Manage relationships with counterparts on the donor side, aligning funder priorities with the network's needs and safeguarding the organization's partnerships.
    • Leverage global platforms, convenings, and gatherings, both internal and external, to cultivate donors.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and national network partners to ensure partnership deliverables, grant reports, milestones, and stewardship activities remain on track.
  • Produce high-quality written communications — including grant proposals, concept notes, donor reports, high-stakes emails, and presentations — that inspire current and prospective donors to support Teach For All and its global network.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Teach For All's organizational strategy, programmatic priorities, and global network in order to represent the organization effectively and connect donor interests to strategic priorities.

Strategic Operations & Systems Management (50%)

  • Oversee and optimize Global Development's data management strategy, with a focus on maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our Salesforce platform and mailing lists.
  • Develop and execute project management plans for cross-portfolio donor events and donor participation in other Teach For All events.
  • Facilitate the smooth functioning of the Global Development Team by identifying areas for improvement, developing and implementing efficient systems and workflows, addressing operational pain points, and promoting the sharing of best practices across fundraising portfolios, enabling the team to operate more efficiently and effectively.
  • Support with the management of the Global Development Team budget, track expenses, and actively contribute to the budgeting process in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, ensuring responsible resource allocation in support of the team's financial goals.
  • Oversee all gift processing across portfolios and regions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational policies. Manage online donation platforms, maintain meticulous record-keeping, and handle donor recognition preferences, collaborating with the Public Affairs team to ensure external communications and website information are up-to-date, contributing to positive donor relations.
  • Plan and execute bi-weekly Global Development team calls, ensuring effective communication and information sharing across the team.
  • Provide flexible and strategic capacity to the Foundations, Corporates, and Individual Giving portfolios on a range of projects, including conducting in-depth prospect research.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience; including some experience in fundraising and end-to-end donor management, and relationship cultivation.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to synthesize complex programmatic, financial, and impact-related information into clear, compelling narratives tailored to diverse donor audiences; ability to exercise independent judgment on narrative strategy, messaging, and framing across a high volume of concurrent projects.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent writing projects with competing deadlines, coordinate across teams to gather inputs, and maintain systems and resources that support a high-functioning writing operation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • A strong commitment to Teach For All's core purpose and values.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, globally matrixed environment, managing significant volume and complexity without compromising quality.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in managing confidential, high-value relationships on which the organization materially depends.
Additional desirable skills
  • Prior experience as an alumni and/or leader from within the Teach For All network is preferred
  • Proven experience managing and optimizing CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, for fundraising purposes.

What Teach For All Offers:

  • Commitment to cultivating a culture in which all staff members feel they belong, are valued for their contributions, and have an impact on our organization's progress
  • Professional and personal development experiences and ample opportunities to make a positive impact on the work of Teach For All and beyond
  • Comprehensive benefits package designed for your well-being and work-life needs
  • Generous time off and flexible work arrangements
  • And much more!
