Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Managing and directing the accounts payable processes and procedures, including ensuring all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable and all invoices are paid timely.
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Assist VP of Accounting and the Director of Accounting to coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Participates in numerous special projects including Live Racing, Derby and special events and other duties as assigned.
  • To provide BIG Service to internal and external guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset.
  • Develops and maintains professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guest, and vendors.
  • The ability and willingness to ensure that work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • The ability to work safely. This includes clearly understanding and following company safety policies and procedures, completing work in a safe manner, caring about safety of self and others, responding appropriately in an emergency, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
  • Maintain professionalism and a friendly and approachable demeanor throughout the workday.
  • Assist with training/mentoring of new team members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.
  • 3 - 5 years supervisor experience required in an accounting role.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks.
  • Internal candidates must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Transfer and Promotion Policy.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
