Here's Where You Come In

The Director of Financial Operations is the leader of the financial operations processes for our region, including month-end close, financial forecasting, budget management, revenue recognition, commission payments, M&A financial due diligence and integration, systems management, and dashboard development to generate data-driven operational insights for our teams.

This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and leads a team of twoanalysts, including a Property & Casualty Operations Analyst and an Employee Benefits Operations Analyst who oversee the day-to-day financial operations and analytics work.

The ideal candidate is a rigorousandintellectually curious financialprofessional who bringstechnicalexpertiseto this rolewhile also supportingand mentoringthe rest of the teamthrough change and challenges. You arethe kind of leaderthatyour team comes to with hard questions because they know they'll get thoughtful answers. Above all, you bring sound judgment, principled decision-making, and a genuine service orientation toallthe workyou do.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the region's monthly financial close, including revenue variance analysis, forecasting, expense management, and team performance metrics, whilepartnering with leadership to translate the results into actionable insight.

  • Build anddevelopthe dashboards, reports, and analytics that give regional and operational leaders the insight they need to make timelyandwell-informed business decisions.

  • Lead the regional budget development process,includingbuilding the data models and forecasts thathelp usground strategic decisions in defensible numbers.

  • Serve as the senior expert on complex financial and operational challenges, such asrevenue recognition, premium payables, commissions,bonus structures,andcorporate accounting matters,whilebringingrigor and sound judgment to issues that require both technical depth and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead the financial due diligence and integration of acquisitions, including review of revenue, expenses, compensation, financial risks, and operating assumptions.

  • Strengthen the foundation of our financial operations by improving data integrity, refining systems, and elevating the standards of how we capture, organize, and use financial data.

  • Lead, coach, and developtheoperations analystteam,providing effectivedelegation, peer review, andmentorshipto growthecapabilitiesof the teamandsupport collaborative solving ofcomplex problems.

  • Build trusted partnerships with regional and corporate leaders, serving as a reliable, principled point of contact on financial operations matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial operations, financial analytics, or business intelligence

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and data modeling capabilities with a methodical approach to translating complex data into executive-ready insight

  • Robust financial acumen with working knowledge of P&Ls, financial statements, and operational financial reporting

  • Advanced Excel and demonstrated experience building reports, dashboards, and financial models in Power BI or comparable tools

  • Experience with advanced data and automation tools (e.g. SQL, Power Query, Power Pivot, Power Automate, VBA)

  • Direct people leadership experience, including coaching, delegation, performance feedback, and quality review

  • Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities,andimprove inherited processes

  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or professional servicespreferred
